you've listed eight different software doodads I'd need to accomplish what my one Spotify app that gives me access to everything I need for $15 does.
yes, that + jams are important to me socially
Why I stay:
1. family plan that I run. my parents and siblings all use it.
2. social. Sharing playlists matters to me, and everyone else uses spotify. This is also important in my romantic pursuits.
3. It has 10+ years of my listening history; the recommendations are decent, and my playlists go that far back.
4. whatever UI issues it has (and I can name a few off the top of my head), I don't find it difficult to use at all, and I'm used to its quirks.
You can disable that behavior in the settings.
I definitely enjoy Wrapped. But also something that keeps me in Spotify is the social aspect. If I want to make a playlist for someone, 95% of people I know use Spotify, so I need to have Spotify.
Why do you think you need to take action on how other people raise their children?

this is counterbalanced by somewhat talented products of nepotism getting in, like Stella Lefty
Who the hell uses GitHub socially?
Using LLMs for prose that matters is already a perversion of writing.
> transcendence
> immanence
somebody has been studying Christian theology!

Robert Martin, the author of Clean Code, is a caustic dick defending a book full of spurious commandments. I don't put any stock in his takes.
> I break about 1 USB-C plug a week.
That's a you problem. I have never done this, and neither have any of the dozen people I just asked in my office.
Yes. People don't want to go out and buy or borrow physical writing, or lug around a laptop, if they don't have to.
what makes you think you can unilaterally expand a very well-accepted meaning of a term, especially in a discussion that is basically semantics of the term?
it's generally another layer on top of things like unit testing, MC/DC coverage, etc. not all programs use formal verification though.
now I have a moral reason (in addition to clear engineering reasons) to never use Flux!
The potion seller guy wrote Challengers
Golden Dome is tens of billions of dollars for extremely limited small-salvo ballistic missile interception. It will get canceled next administration, and for good reason.
A decent amount of mission-critical software undergoes formal verification, like spacecraft flight software (my area of expertise). SparkADA lives on because of not just its safety, but formal verifiability.
I agree. Art isn't a playing field!
This is why you should have several of them checking against the same rulesets and cross-check them to reduce chasing of false positives.
this is pretty much my conclusion. I try very hard to teach my interns the straight and narrow.
That, or any other potentially apocalyptic event
what is the point of this comment?
> I would like to know how can someone like me defend against them?
You could take the Galactica approach - de-network everything you can.
How are GLPs bad for the world?
It is absolutely something to be ashamed of, and a moral crime.
