France corporate taxes are not that bad, but the corporate paid social charges are massive (40-45% of employees gross salary)
Re:The next chapter of our AI momentum on Wednesday August 05, 2026 @08:22PM (#49190844)
A better one: When Jeff Dean leaves Google, Google’s value drops by $200 billion (the actual market cap drop right after the news).
But that park was probably created as a result of a vote or other political process.
The study you linked is for instant coffee, widely considered the least healthy form of coffee. There is no study showing filtered coffee has negative health effects for most people, actually the opposite: https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/whats-the-hea...

Roughly how much per day do these multi-week run end up costing?
Re:AI Adoption Rates Starting to Flatten Out on Friday November 28, 2025 @05:20PM (#46083298)
Why would they not define what adoption rate mean? And why is “Ramp AI adoption rates” 3-4x just “AI adoption rates”?
Re:Iceland reports the presence of mosquitoes as climate warms on Thursday October 23, 2025 @05:54AM (#45680097)
Mosquito-heavy regions of northern Canada are actually warmer than Iceland in summer. Iceland averages 10-15°C (50-59°F) in July, but Canada’s boreal forest regions where mosquitoes thrive regularly see temperatures of 20-25°C (68-77°F) in the summer.
So you’re telling me this clip isn’t even satire: https://youtube.com/shorts/64TNGvCoegE
Meta keeps making more and more bafflingly horrible product decisions. Tens of billions into the Metaverse and now “let’s put gen AI into everything” even if it goes against the one thing that is arguably the most responsible for FB’s success - real identity. “Let’s put fake bots everywhere, because GenAI, need I say more?”
One of the bullets had “deny” engraved in it.

Most consultants with more than 3 years of experience are billed at $150/hr or more
Re:Bayesian Yacht Sinking on Friday November 01, 2024 @08:25PM (#42022980)
Ok true but that boat was much much heavier and bigger. So the ratio of mast height to weight/size on the Bayesian was extreme
Re:Bayesian Yacht Sinking on Friday November 01, 2024 @07:58AM (#42016066)
People have not been making vessels with 237ft masts for thousands of years. That boat literally had one of the tallest mast ever to exist on a boat. You combine the “extreme” nature of this boat with an extreme weather event and you get an extremely outlier outcome
Re:Why Don't Tech Companies Pay Their Engineers to Stay? on Thursday September 05, 2024 @10:41PM (#41462412)
Right but what if you enjoy your job and don’t want to retire?
GPT-4 is way more powerful than GPT-4o for programming tasks.
Re:Vision language models are blind on Thursday July 11, 2024 @02:54PM (#40939485)
No it’s not, it’s a multimodal transformer model.

What’s a 2048 clone?
Permafrost, and prob with geological evidence it's been similar or colder climate in that region in past 50k years.

What’s FTS?
Sounds like a data engineer job to me
Re:One dead as London-Singapore flight hit by turbulence on Wednesday May 22, 2024 @11:17PM (#40450082)
The downdraft could actually make the plane accelerate downwards faster than free fall (even just for a second or so), hence everything unattached hitting the ceiling
Re:Malleable Software in the Age of LLMs (2023) on Tuesday April 30, 2024 @11:23AM (#40212028)
Maybe it's getting into semantics but clarity of thought does not necessarily mean accurate understanding of reality (which is usually messy and complex), so moronic people could ironically have more "clarity of thought" than non-moronic people because they tend to have simple beliefs (these X people are good, but those Y people are bad).
Re:Meta Llama 3 on Thursday April 18, 2024 @04:19PM (#40080282)
Meta has products that are used by billions of people every week and has been extremely profitable for over 15 years, with no sign of obvious downward trend. I don't see how it can be described as a bubble.
So the whole argument/protest is based on SXSW having “ ties to weapons manufacturers supplying Israel” but they don’t provide a single source or evidence for it?
Re:OpenAI and Elon Musk on Tuesday March 05, 2024 @11:22PM (#39612282)
Does it say he found him anywhere? All I see in the article are emails to him from 2016
I think this article explains the situation at Google better than anywhere else: https://www.piratewires.com/p/google-culture-of-fear
Which model did you start with?
It would be nice to see the costs as well since GPT API can get very costly. Profits is what matters...
Re:Alexei Navalny has died – authorities on Friday February 16, 2024 @05:17PM (#39403702)
Sadly it will have as much of an impact on the Russians as any political martyr in any past dictatorship. And that is, almost certainly nothing.
