AFAIK due to SEPA we are already much better integrated. And with SEPA URLs (QR or NFC) plus instant transactions we already have all we need deployed EU wide. IMO the European banks are just over engineering everything.

Since all non-dedicated GPUs work this way I'd argue this was possible even longer ago. Now one has to question whether those integrated GPUs had any usable computing power. So it's not clear where to draw the line.

I can understand disregarding Apple hardware as they are not general computing devices since they support only a single, locked down OS.

I wonder if there will be proper answers - looks like some Yandex centers still chew out anti-EU propaganda...

Oh I did not know that. Looks like Apple EOL'd the Intel Macs.

Maybe take a look at Nix+Homemanager.
Re:Photopea creator weighs in on Photosuite project on Tuesday October 06, 2026 @02:38AM (#49975026)
I have no affiliation with anyone in this drama. I heard of Photopea before but never used it. I just opened it to check for attributions and did not find any at all. So if the - possibly fueled by lower motives - accusations about OSS license violations are indeed true, IMO Photopea lost any right to complain about people copying their product.

They switched from using mistral-medium to GLM 5.2 in Vibe
Re:Mistral raises €3B on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @07:14AM (#49608706)
They are now serving GLM52 and the 15€ sub comes with a nice included quota. So I get good code assist and pay a EU company for it.
Re:Mistral Vibe Code: GLM 5.2 is now available on Friday September 04, 2026 @02:02AM (#49561044)
Since my local Qwen 3.8 did most of the work the recent weeks I thought about canceling my "mistral-medium" Pro subscription. But when I started the vibe-cli and saw that the context size increased to 800k, noticed that they serve GLM-5.2 now, so I'll probably keep the sub. The pricing (for now) gives me a good large quota included in my Pro subscription and the model seems very fast. Via API (hits a smaller, but different quota bucket) it even gives 1M ctx. Built a small proxy to wire it into Android Studio to work around Googles sub-par third party support.

I mean of course it is a Chinese model (like Qwen), but a quick censorship test tells me it is at least not extreme. Just like Qwen, it happily critizes the Tiananmen Square massacre and Tank Man aswell as makes fun of the Winnie Pooh ban in the PRC.

That was exactly the plan in Germany when we finally had a progressive ("center-left") government coalition a couple of years ago. The plan was dragged out and eventually killed by the centrist/neoliberal coalition partner (FDP). It is extremely sad it went this way. Just think of the acceptance the people would've had: Germans might have called for higher CO2 taxes out of pure selfishness...
The OP/submitter's history basically looks what I expect coming from a US or Russian propaganda bot.

The Wikipedia article cites a long list of reputable news outlets.

Putin turned off the gas, not the EU
Re:Germany maybe found a new source of renewable energy on Friday July 17, 2026 @06:11AM (#48945434)
Where is fracking being done in Germany today?
Re:Germany maybe found a new source of renewable energy on Thursday July 16, 2026 @05:14PM (#48940343)
> You should stop relying on such low-resolution thinking when discussing a complex issue like German energy policy.

It is funny that you are criticizing my ability to reason when you are not even able to (in two comments now) even address the (as explicitly stated in my personal reply to you) single point I was making.

> This happened only because public opinion had been shaped by the movements mentioned in my previous comment for the last 40 to 50 years.

Are you implying that 1986 was a Russian propaganda plot? What/who do you mean with "movements"?

Re:Germany maybe found a new source of renewable energy on Thursday July 16, 2026 @12:09PM (#48936472)
Note that I won't even write answers to all the other commenters telling me that nuclear power plants are great (they are not). I will answer you because my reply was about your comment on Russian propaganda:

1. Angela Merkel and her conservative/center coalition shut down the NPPs as a direct response to the Fukushima disaster. The NPPs in Germany were never really important (something like 10% of electricity IIRC).

2. No one in Germany even knew about fracking until we learned that communities in the US now had poisoned ground water because of it. The whole thing was instantly dead forever in Germany. Yes of course the same idiots who want NPPs back also say we should do fracking, but I don't think any of that will ever happen.

So I did not want to discuss whether these decisions were wrong or not, just wanted to point out that making Russian propaganda the reason for this is a far stretch.

Regarding your point about German/European money paying for Russian bombs: You are absolutely right and it is shameful. We should have pulled the plug on Russia 2014. Do note though that Germany had Russian fossils since like the 70`s as part of ensuring peace and transformation through trade, which yes - did not work out so well in the end.

Re:Germany maybe found a new source of renewable energy on Wednesday July 15, 2026 @10:34AM (#48921484)
So the Fukushima disaster and US polluted ground water are Russian propaganda for you?
It was always crazy to me that computers were locked down. I almost understand Karen buying an iPhone not coding her own apps, but a dev not able to deploy on their own device just felt so wrong. It made me wonder how Apple was still so popular and seemingly beloved.
AFAIK regulatory changes were needed and implemented recently. Commercial offers for Vehicle to Grid started this month.
My German ID can do that already AFAIK.
Re:Emacs and Vim in the Age of AI on Saturday March 14, 2026 @09:03AM (#47376272)
In my experience that sentence never made much sense anyway. Of course over the ~25 years of Linux I had to setup/learn a lot of stuff, but usually it ended up being time well invested.
Re:Asahi Linux with Sway on the MacBook Air M2 on Friday December 26, 2025 @02:54AM (#46390144)
I also have an X13 Gen2 AMD. My idle power consumption is 2.5W to 4W depending on brightness. This ends up in 12h-15h (machine/battery ist 2y old I think).

I think you can improve your power settings.

I heart that at least in the US losing access to Facetime would be a serious loss in social status. So then this would be a real hurdle WRT user choice.
Re:Nearly 90% of Windows Games Now Run on Linux on Wednesday October 29, 2025 @03:25AM (#45743688)
WRT competetive: No reason to state that in absolutes. I play Rocket League, CS2 and Overwatch2 just fine in Linux.
Re:Nearly 90% of Windows Games Now Run on Linux on Wednesday October 29, 2025 @03:15AM (#45743620)
How deep did you look into it? Don't be misled by maybe your manufacturer not supporting Linux directly. As an example https://github.com/berarma/oversteer helped me to set up my wheel better than any rubbish windows OEM software could have.
Lachen, Nacht and Tochter (don't know a cognate for 'cough') still have this sound in Standard German.
I think the worst european country in terms of online freedom right now is the UK, which kind of defeats your point entirely.

Thanks for the reminder. I just disabled AICore and freed 2GB in my Pixel 9 Pro.
