Cool stuff and inspiring. Have a website or GitHub about your home automation projects? I checked out your blog, and the raspberry pi microwave was pretty sweet.

Does anyone know if Colombia has this type of digital nomad visa?

Smart! Low taxes, same time zone, up and coming country…

I'd be curious to see what a billionaire could do in this niche. Bezos, Branson, and Musk are doing amazing things in the space race. I'm curious what their teams could come up with for this.

Coffee was largely impactful for most of the progress and golden ages of world civilizations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAPG18zNtXk

Yeah zerover seems kinda Draconian like “you’ll never be good enough!”
Re:Build Your Own Fedora IoT Remix – Fedora Magazine on Wednesday August 11, 2021 @08:45AM (#28141344)
This seems like a cool middle ground between Debian and an RTOS.

Yeah a personal brand is so important. Great article from a wise hacker.
Re:Default disappearing messages on Wednesday August 11, 2021 @08:38AM (#28141267)
Yeah I see what you’re saying, but there will always be the tech equivalent of the back room whisper - a private and authentic conversation. The platform may change, but it will exist because there’s always a need for it. Now, Signal fills that need. In the future… tor on open source hardware? Something else?
Haha that should be the line to tell your team - "Ok guys, this is almost an IP address... it's time to move on."
Re:How Has 2021 Changed China’s Microcontroller Industry? on Tuesday August 10, 2021 @10:31AM (#28129317)
Any node in particular you think is risky for TSMC?
The Swarm Tile looks easily integratable into PCB designs. And, it's very low power. Although, I wonder why they need about 3 Watts power consumption when transmitting. At their low transmit frequencies (148-150 MHz), I would think they could lower that number to less than 1 Watt since the wavelengths are so long. But hey, if you deploy your sensor in a sunny location with solar panels, then why not?
> TSMC, meanwhile, has been responsible for manufacturing approximately 70% of these microcontrollers.

There may come a day where this trend will reverse.

Exponential growth of that group in the past year… that’s scary. I’d be curious as to how many of them are flat-earthers too.
Re:There is a Taco Bell at the centre of The Pentagon on Monday August 09, 2021 @08:18AM (#28115827)
Now we know why Taco Bell is so good.
Not surprising really. That landscape has become so competitive. To make a profit requires a pristine product page and reviews section.
Amen. Although, if you're on version 931.59.12, then maybe something is wrong.

That's randomly concerning!
It was meant in jest. :)

Start by making your plan digestible. My favorite quote from the article.

Even though the future is unpredictable, we can at least be clear on where we are going.

Re:Who wants efficient passenger rail? on Thursday August 05, 2021 @01:27PM (#28076821)
There are so many smart people in transportation research and development. They've developed solar energy harvesting concrete for heaven's sake. But when will we see such improvements? I think when our transportation problems get much worse than they are now. Now, it's just "ok". Sure we have slow trains and broken bridges, but on the whole, people can get around the USA. It needs to get much much worse.
Re:Wealthy people are renouncing American citizenship on Thursday August 05, 2021 @01:19PM (#28076699)
It's funny how the IRS publishes a "shame list" of people who renounced.
Re:Beginner’s Guide to the Python Datetime Module on Wednesday August 04, 2021 @09:20AM (#28060690)
As great and useful as datetime is, I still have to google the syntax every time I want to use it. Maybe that's because there are so many different time formats and standards, but I wish it were a bit more intuitive.
Good! 5G is soooo much more resource efficient than 4G and 3G. Everything from spectrum resource allocation, smarter and more directional beam-forming, virtual networking, and edge computing will bring the aggregate cost of telecom down for all.
Re:My small revenge on Apple on Wednesday August 04, 2021 @09:00AM (#28060507)
Will David beat Goliath? We'll find out...
Great work. Back when I worked on DFing, ESPRIT was my favorite estimation algorithm. If I remember right, it was slightly less accurate but much more efficient than MUSIC.
Nice!! You could spend $49 on this, and after 500 MB (~5000 pictures?), just buy another one and replace it!

Have any project pages? GitHub? website? etc?

China's in a great position to do this. Not many other countries could withstand the consequences. Westerners plan for 5-10 years ahead. China plans for 1-2 generations ahead.
Re:Guide to Software Project Estimation on Tuesday August 03, 2021 @12:47PM (#28051341)
And prepare for them to give you strange faces! I had a manager look at my estimate and then told me to multiply it by 3, which I thought was ludicrous. Turned out to be accurate.
