Re:Steam Machine on Tuesday June 23, 2026 @07:08AM (#48643192)
It's possible already. Using an open source app called PadForge. I've setup a profile that works without steam and emulates xbox360 pad. I've used it without problems in Forza Horizon 6 which is an UWP / PC Game Pass game, also in various emulators.

Re:Asahi Linux folks are doing us a solid with WPA3 fixes on Tuesday November 07, 2023 @05:23PM (#38183851)
Yes, as soon as NixOS will have native support - I will be buying an apple laptop. The Asahi people are doing a fantastic job.
The accent is not great, but the pronounciation sounds good to me.
You can use google translate - it pronounces it correctly - https://translate.google.com/?sl=auto&tl=en&text=hod%C3%B3w&...
I'm not saying that the article is untrue. I'm not a historian. What I'm saying is that all content from this source should be treated with high skepticism.
As a Polish guy - I would not trust a single thing shown in the national propagandist TVP television.

It's really weird to see this on Hacker News.

Re:RPCS3 – The Open Source Playstation 3 Emulator on Wednesday July 12, 2023 @07:50AM (#36693190)
No idea, that's why I'm asking :)

I guess there may be ways to do it not really legally by some hacker and then sharing it with others.

Not that I support it, but there are still people who don't see problems with such behavior.

Re:RPCS3 – The Open Source Playstation 3 Emulator on Wednesday July 12, 2023 @06:42AM (#36692635)
Looking how some emulators just ask users to copy firmware / software / keys from their real consoles - couldn't the same thing be done and only the hardware layer be emulated?
Re:RPCS3 – The Open Source Playstation 3 Emulator on Wednesday July 12, 2023 @06:14AM (#36692472)
I'm wondering - heard that PS3 architecture is so complex, and PS4 is back to x86 - so what is it that makes PS4 emulators so hard to implement?

Surely nowadays hardware such as 7000 ryzen series and 4090 gpus are leaps and bounds above PS4 hardware.

It has a touchscreen, two joysticks and two touchpad likes surfaces, you can configure them how you like.

However the screen is 7 inches and text in games like this or early Fallouts is too small for me, so I planned to use SD for them but resigned.

It's not fair to reduce the role of Windows to an advertising tool. It's also a spyware.

Also important for devices with small screens such as Steam Deck.

Tried to play Disco Elysium on it, and it's just too hard for me.

Re:Kraken to end on-chain staking services for U.S. clients on Friday February 10, 2023 @05:37AM (#34737955)
No, the rules are dictated by validating nodes. If miners change the way they mine they will create a fork and it will not affect bitcoin.

Very well said.

Technically speaking Larry David was discouraging people from using FTX.

Not really. Libertarian anachocapitalists usually lean toward Bitcon/Monero, and not Web3 programmable hipster altcoins pumped by corporations.

Re:Writing down what I do – in Obsidian on Wednesday November 09, 2022 @04:05AM (#33528962)
Do you use end to end encryption? I don't want 3rd party companies to see my data.

Of course obsidian is not open source so I can't guarantee their e2e sync service doesn't sneakily send the data to their servers, but it's still less risky than having it easily available to the company employees.

I don't think anybody believes he cares about the money. Seems like it's a matter of principles for him.

It's not such a great innovation if it makes users life harder.

Dropwizard is cool if you write REST microservices. It uses embedded jetty, JAX-RS, Jackson, metrics, etc.

As far as I know it's inspiration for Spring Boot, and it's simpler and ready to use on production.

That's a bit not fair to languages different than lisp because of their more complicated syntax.

Clojure simplicity is just superb in this case.

PoS cryptocurrencies are like attaching wheels to horses.

Why make alternative finance systems based on the same fact that the wealthiest entities control the policy of the network? Exactly like in the current system with central banks and governments.

Yeah, that supports handling encrypted files, but the question is if org indexes such files to handle interlinking, file completion, agendas and stuff.

I guess it doesn't.

Out of curiosity:

Does org-mode have encryption mode? Where all the files and maybe their names get encrypted on disk?

That's a must have for me for the multiple devices scenario with storing data on 3rd party service.

Right now I'm using obsidian because it has client side encryption, but it's not open source so not optimal.

And how can I easily verify it's really 100% gold?

Maybe in US, but not in all countries.
