After running a context window up high, probably near 70% on opus 4.6 High and watching it take 20% bites out of my 5hr quota per prompt I've been experimenting with dumping context after completing a task. Seems to be working ok. I wonder if I was running into the long context premium. Would that apply to Pro subs or is just relevant to api pricing?
I noticed during the olympics that they would hide the in-page volume controls during commercials. I hadn't seen that before. Fortunately it's still possible to mute via the tab control.

This is something that wouldn't be covered by registration free COM?
Re:Garmin's –$40B Pivot on Tuesday January 21, 2025 @06:57AM (#42779176)
I'm amazed apple has got by with a 3/4 day charge for 10 generations while garmin has had products with a 7+ day charge for years.
Neither the Cessna nor many helicopters (autorotation) need power to land. I wouldn't want to get into one of these e-bricks!

Windows 11 has a fun feature where it will potentially deactivate if you update your bios.

Yea, I noticed this same thing a couple weeks ago in a relatively small Michigan college town. Used to buy eggs at Aldis for 65 cents not that long ago.

That Hideous Strength
One of my main concerns is how easily and quickly can issues be debugged? Can you attach a debugger in production if necessary? I've seen people experiment with serverless and it seems like they were back to print statements for debugging.
Re:Ask HN: Best book to learn C in 2022? on Saturday October 08, 2022 @09:32AM (#33132145)
I'm a C++ programmer that's not done anything directly in C. I stumbled by this book Fluent C By Christopher Preschern just published this month and I thought the organization looked rather interesting. It covers many programming concerns and details several patterns for dealing with them. One thing that's neat is it often refers to open source projects where the pattern is applied so one could go take a more detailed look.

Is there any way to import Meigs? I'm surprised they never brought it back for fun!

I imagine there is still a lot of action based on rumors. Absolute truth is hard to come by.
Is it being rebuilt as pure CRUD? I've been working on an app lately where the major entities in the relational db won't be updated. They'll will just be superseded by the next record.
Yea, a fan in my laptop was failing and I mostly noticed it on Patch Tuesday.

If I eat a bowl of cereal, even unsweetened, I am ravenous and unproductive 2 hours later. On the other hand if I have 4-5 eggs or tin of sardines I'm good for 4-5 hours.

If the code is decoupled it's easier to reason about. The tricky part is breaking things down to the right level of granularity.
I think it's if you opt out of the unlimited music streaming + data bank.

Vegetable oils, having vegetable in the name, sound healthy but are like the HFCS of the oil world. They are cheap, heavily processed, and prone to rancidification.
