Re:Elevated errors on login with Claude Code on Wednesday March 11, 2026 @01:33PM (#47338599)
On iOS and macOS 2FAs are auto-populated for you, and of course also your saved login and password. You don't need to leave the page and open other applications.

This is by far the most common sign-in UX. So is there some security benefit in the email link sign-in?

I think the point is that we should aim to solve it without surveillance / sacrificing rights. So in this case, increasing the fines / jail time is at least one alternative.
Re:Magic/tragic email links: don't make them the only option on Tuesday January 07, 2025 @04:27PM (#42627746)
claude.ai supports only either magic email links or google sign in. definitely a factor in why I prefer ChatGPT.
A and B are not the same thing if they can sometimes generate the same output to a particular query.

Worldcoin is not a known scam. It is a new company and what they set out to do is different than what they have already done.

“since no one can provide an example to me in person, on command, it must not be possible for anyone”

take me as your first anecdotal example of someone whose life has been significantly and measurably improved since taking psychedelics. there goes your entire argument.

Musk took Twitter private, and private companies are not required to report financials.

check out the charts of SNAP (just this morning), AMZN, NFLX, TSLA, FB, GOOG,

do you have the same criticisms for the biggest equities in the US stock market?

Re:The Bitcoin Investment Thesis Is Broken on Tuesday May 24, 2022 @09:03AM (#31491471)
BTC is down 50% from ATH while Nasdaq is off 30% and S&P 20%, Bonds (AGG) down 15%, all in the span of 6 months. BTC's investment thesis is not invalidated for sliding along with every single other asset class in one of the worst historic starts to a year.

Try a longer term perspective, and BTC is indeed still deflationary - its potential to replace central bank functionality and to be a secure, global SoV is still valuable to investors.

the article does not argue against short selling. it argues that there are loopholes being used to facilitate naked shorting and that the lack of transparency with naked shorts is problematic.
Re:Google finances Fake News ecosystem on Friday August 07, 2020 @09:57PM (#24088327)
Your statement is false and unsourced. The basis of the paper, as stated in the abstract is to "examine the role of search engines and their optimization processes in directing traffic towards junk news & disinformation about COVID-19" - it has nothing to do with "radical leftist propaganda".

Also, besides Snopes, the authors list the following sources: AFP Factuel, BBC Reality Check, Correctiv, Les Décodeurs, dpa Faktencheck, FactCheck, Media Bias/Fact Check, Newsguard, Pagella Politica, PolitiFact, Tagesschau Faktenfinder.

It is easy, especially for the HN community, to see that overly-sensationalist fake news stories could trip an algo whose purpose is to surface the "most popular" stories.

This is fantastic work by The Computational Propaganda Project.

The fact that the suspected secret data is not in the public “download your data” tool is not really an argument that it doesn’t exist.
