Re:The money, job, marriage myth: are you happy yet?
on Monday January 07, 2019 @12:03PM (#18847042)
I don't seek money, have a job, or got married, or other social markers of success, to be happy.
I did it to thrive in society; it increases my and my family's chances of survival.
I'd be happier by myself, with enough money to live with, and without a job. Happiness is not the most important thing in my life.

Re:Why does decentralization matter?
on Monday December 31, 2018 @01:41PM (#18796134)
Decentralization makes it harder to stop political or state actors from manipulating social media, anonymously and invisibly. It makes it harder to stop the propagation of toxic and inflammatory messages.
I don't say "impossible" because the state can shut down the Internet or illegalize decentralized software.

It's impossible to discuss an article that is never created because there was no money to create it...
I empathize with your need to have easy access to information, and I hope you can empathize with journalists and news media needs to make a living wage.
Re:AdGuard DNS: A Privacy-Oriented DNS Server

Misleading claim: any external DNS server is not private. Your requests are directed to a third-party. I suspect data-mining you is how they pay their server bills.
The correct technical solution for privacy is running your own DNS server locally.
