Re:Show HN: How Random Are You? on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @02:34PM (#50076441)
The first time I did badly. But the second time I got really far by deciding on a number instinctively and then picking something next to it. Maybe we instinctively pick similar numbers, but if we fight our instincts we end up with something truly random.
Re:Scientists wonder: Is my AI stealing my ideas? on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @01:11PM (#50075173)
This is like when the price of things increases because they are in your shopping cart.
Running in the browser is the best part. Can actually use it at work without asking IT.
I’m not going to use different browsers on different devices. I can’t use Safari on my gaming windows desktop.

This would actually be helpful in the kitchen for following recipes, but the screen is too small.
Looks like image feature extraction used for localization in self-driving cars.

Back to paper wallets I guess.
More than firing employees, I think employees will quit workplaces that don’t provide enough AI access. It’s hard to go back to coding everything by hand. Expectations have also gone up a lot.
Along with noise cancelling headphones, noise canceling microphones will probably get really good.
Re:"Just Ask Claude" Is a Rare and Valuable Skill on Monday October 12, 2026 @10:53AM (#50057295)
It’s like when someone asks you for directions. They can easily use Google Maps, but they like your input.

Yes. For everyone saying just install this or that, it’s not straightforward for the TV and every other device in your house, including your family’s. Sometimes just paying brings a lot of convenience.
I don’t want to buy a 5 year old console even without the price hikes.
Re:Sorry we made you grind LeetCode on Monday October 12, 2026 @02:13AM (#50052000)
Will they nerf the AI so it doesn’t help you too much? Is it going to keep making mistakes that you have to correct? I guess that would be a good skill to check.
Is it easier to make all these apps from scratch or use AI to supercharge an existing open source alternative?
Re:Optimization is the root of all evil on Sunday October 11, 2026 @03:16AM (#50040482)
Does tracking more measures always fix this?
Re:Timestamping a Giant Record of the Web on Sunday October 11, 2026 @02:51AM (#50040385)
This is really cool. Never thought of blockchain to be a tamper proof record of any history, not just money.
Why do they create these teams if they are just going to disregard what they say and fire them? Is it a compliance thing?
It looks similar. Even the things I don’t like about the interface. I wonder if it will always try to be a clone or try to be even better. Then does it become like all the other existing alternatives?
Re:Reasons to Dislike AI Coding on Thursday October 08, 2026 @01:23PM (#50008809)
Insisting that software be created without AI is becoming like insisting that a photograph be hand painted instead of printed.
