I'm def going to sit down and try this out today but perhaps you could move the "mobile support" alert to happen before the asset loading progress bar :)
"This offer will be available to eligible employees in participating teams in Canada, India, the United Kingdom and the United States at level 70 and below."

anyone know what level 70 means?

hey! we said no questions asked!
Re:It's still OK to enjoy programming on Monday October 19, 2026 @06:21PM (#50158843)
it's like how I can still get a typewriter and use it for the experience, or like how I could write ORM scaffolding by hand or just let the code gen write it, I see AI as nothing more than a keyboard extension, the amount of freedom you give it depends on the instruction/prompt
Links Awakening is its own world Link didn't do any of that other stuff he was just an adventurous dude who found himself on an island and that was the most remarkable thing about his life and he was still just a normal dude after.
Re:Who Is Planting Backdoors in Ledger Crypto Wallets? on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @09:23AM (#50087392)
I believe an untampered Ledger is still OK as long as you don't pair it with a compromised machine, which perhaps is not saying much at the present moment...
If the general public tends to believe there's not much left to discover then I wonder if this sentiment itself might be a clue that the opposite is true to a greater extent, or even that we're arguably "behind" in the short term.

Intelligence = Smart

Artificial = Not Real

AI is Not Real Smart

why do I feel like these people are paid to quit as an inverted marketing stunt

Re:Dario, Please on Monday September 14, 2026 @05:06PM (#49704031)
the government loves to maintain the bubble economy since it is directly upstream from getting re-elected
Re:Dario, Please on Monday September 14, 2026 @02:28PM (#49701620)
"Deaths from economic disruption and loss of jobs is okay" is a curious sentiment, how many deaths can we trace directly back to an economic disruption driven by advancement but then conclude that the economy should thus never change or advancement must be curtailed because it might cause deaths?

I don't even know how to approach such a thing, I can't imagine even in the stereotypical examples like the typewriter becoming obsolete, were any downstream deaths worth it? Or is this a totally nonsensical sentiment to begin with?

Re:Claude Is a Contrarian on Monday September 14, 2026 @02:20PM (#49701501)
I asked Claude for his response to the blog post and the first paragraph contained some funny introspection:

"The "not X, but Y" thing is real and he's caught it cleanly. It's frequent enough that it works as a fingerprint, which is his actual claim, and his test would probably hold up. I'll add a detail that supports him: my own instructions for this conversation explicitly tell me to avoid that construction, along with em-dash asides and a few other tics. Someone at Anthropic decided it was stubborn enough to need naming. That's not a defense. It means the problem outlived the training process and had to be patched at the prompt layer."

Re:Feeling Sad about AI on Friday September 11, 2026 @01:32PM (#49662155)
This feels a little cold to say but I think AI psychosis goes two directions, maybe more, but at least there's a spectrum of "I am unstoppable" and "I am sad", I am currently at some mix of "this feels overhyped" and "ok so merely building something was never the ticket" with a hint of "I can see how this will play out" in two scary ways:

once the orchestration ramps up, people will be replaced, or at least better allocated just like any breakthrough, ie vintage rooms full of people clacking on typewriters, but only for low hanging fruit things at first, it could go the opposite way for critical things like planes vs marketing websites

since they are pushing a lot of fear mongering about AI in the media, people in powerful places could cause a lot of damage and use AI as an excuse that people will believe, just like a new virtual "ISIS" and other than the damage they will def use it as a justification for new laws and invasive controls, possibly to eliminate the anonymous web, and definitely to control the spread of information, that to me is the biggest threat of "AI" currently (and it's not even AI at all)

The Goal by Eliyahu M. Goldratt
Re:iPhone Duo on Thursday September 10, 2026 @08:51AM (#49642924)
yeah but this is about iPhones, not counterfeit ones
it's social media, and a human who strongly signals they know something is usually much more reliable than a search engine for knowing the real upshot, 9 times out of 10 the person who already has a strong opinion has keyed in on the detail that even if I found a search result might not be so easy to decipher, or you could have some professional experience, anyways it was worth a shot, thanks for sharing

dang I just had a mini paradigm shift, what if "that's what she said" was already part of this meme-brainery, I need a serious detox

Re:Intellectual Fly Is Open on Sunday September 06, 2026 @11:57AM (#49587770)
if they had been half decent at writing before they would notice the quality issue, not being able to see it is also a writing skill issue, now it's just kind of spammy as people are just reaching for the tool in ai nighsosis
Re:Intellectual Fly Is Open on Sunday September 06, 2026 @11:55AM (#49587745)
sometimes I feel like just writing in all lowercase without fully proper punctuation to signal that it's a real human mind
what is it that they have to do? I'm still confused as to what is causing the water to change
how would this mess with a water supply though, or are we talking the private wells? with a private well though it's something you want to mitigate either way, filters, etc, granted I have only seen the handful of clips where someone is showing dirty water coming out of the tap and I am trying to trace the chain of responsibility for the water supply, thanks for the detailed response btw
Why and how would they contaminate the water supply though? Sounds like a municipality problem, a water consumer shouldn't be feeding back into the system, or is it being caused by poorly executed construction practices? Maybe when they first pipe in or something is being left open during construction, this seems like it shouldn't happen if things are being done properly, water supply systems are not a new technology so who is dropping the ball?
Re:No AI Fridays on Monday August 31, 2026 @09:42AM (#49509713)
what are you suggesting
it's the best keyboard extension I've ever used
Re:No AI Fridays on Sunday August 30, 2026 @01:01PM (#49500458)
seeing the decision point is exactly what allows you to prevent bad foundational decisions, you are of course able to see beyond any pre-canned choices
