Re:Why are car keys so expensive to replace? on Monday November 02, 2026 @08:16PM (#50346738)
not much different nowadays, one just roots the car then drives away. usually no coathangering the doors needed: access is either wireless or in some conviently accessible place
Re:WTF Ubuntu? on Monday November 02, 2026 @02:21PM (#50342159)
well, yes. sorry.

I should have asked what is it there in replacing yourself with a mishmash of external world.

idk if he mentioned, but if you shown promise, you would've been moved to a second tier school, which were prep for top 5-7 universities, school exit exam there being harder than entry, and people in uni knowing those in those schools.. well. to end up in tops one only had to study hard.

on hardcore.. well, idk, we went through intergrals and simple diff equations, and special relativity theory in 10-11th grades. (14-15 yro). It was not that hard.

Writing also filters the useless crap that is spoken but is not worth writing down.
Why bother when old ways work _and_ there is no benefit? Or name one.

/o\ all this just for what exactly?
Re:Breaking the Open Web Won't Stop the Bad Bots on Friday October 30, 2026 @03:39PM (#50309145)
> As for journalists, nothing is stopping their legal department

and this is the point.

so people without a 'legal department' are shut off.

yes, yes, $PATH is also invisible state then
Was it not? Grandstanding nonwithstanting, 15 years ago GM (and VW/Benz) were very active shifting assembly to Russia of all places.
Re:5-MeO-DMT sometimes cancels the Ebbinghaus illusion on Friday October 30, 2026 @11:27AM (#50305285)
Hah, yes and no. What we see sober is an illusion, and etheogens just show us other illusions, so that with some effort we can cross-correlate them and hopefully arrive at The Truth. It being that there is no such thing.

Most one can do is accept that one is limited by one's perception and then keep that in mind.

Re:5-MeO-DMT sometimes cancels the Ebbinghaus illusion on Friday October 30, 2026 @11:22AM (#50305203)
It also won't work on DMT. Because when you take DMT, whatever variety, you will not be able to look at a monitor, a picture or anything really. The whole concept of "looking at something" is inapplicable then.

> why isn't my brain upping the dose?

because you are not stressing it in the right way.

PS. idk where you got the idea of 'we're at some kind of evolutionary local minimum'. it was never about that.

Re:Why Birds Can Fly over Mount Everest on Thursday October 29, 2026 @03:39AM (#50285618)
Imagine forest fires at 43% oxygen.
And mindful people know that by defeating the dragon you become the dragon, which they do not wish. So everyone else is stuck with the old dragon.
Please don't normalize incompetence.
DC also has issues with arcing, so switches get complicated and expensive.
Re:Switzerland. Block by block. At 1:1 scale on Monday October 26, 2026 @07:12PM (#50252495)
This is a trivial task for 20 year old ArcGIS release. Or an evening with python 2.4 and some docs on file formats.

Now, back then 1-m resolution DEMs were not widely available, but 10-meters were up for download, freely.

the proxy also dilutes their pii/profiling, so it's kind of benefical
Re:Native Prometheus Integration with Nginx on Monday October 26, 2026 @06:41PM (#50252149)
Pff. Nginxs mods exporting metrics were written by the dozens before Prometheus was a thing.

Prom export is also inefficient as fuck. No one serious uses it.

Edit: I wrote two, one in 2009, another in 2013 in case you wonder.

Oh believe me I do. (know the type of fraud and abuse they have been seeing).
You can not offload fraud and abuse on 'oh well there are so many new domains'. This is bullshit.

I went into internets in 1995. Must I tell you about fraud and abuse in early 2000s?

Blocking domains is a cheap shot. It ticks a box somewhere maybe, but it does not and can not prevent or mitigate.

bullshit. you can thank discord and ditch it.
As if it did not for all those years.

srsly ppl

This also. It's a race who's going to find CP where. Or whatever else.

That's politics 101. Read up Mark Twain's Running For Governor.

Haha. You don't email them, you cut off their funding and smear their public image. This is how you make them move, not with emails. It takes some work though.
Re:Docker Is Weird on Friday October 23, 2026 @08:32AM (#50207971)
Do you feel that docker was done for as of about ten years ago and something better should have replaced it?
actually a probe from cheap shit chinese multimeter, an article from wikipedia and a swift stab kills. with some practice on a friendly stuffed animal.

UK approach is insane.

Re:Namecheap just seized and disabled all my domains on Sunday October 18, 2026 @03:43PM (#50144645)
this is not even funny.
Re:Namecheap just seized and disabled all my domains on Sunday October 18, 2026 @03:37PM (#50144568)
Well you know I don't see how 'registered in Russia' has anything to do with the war. In 2022 alone about 1.5m people emigrated, and are still 'registered in Russia'.

This was a poorly thought-out virtue-signalling knee-jerk back then and of course everyone in their right mind transferred their domains out because this is not how you do business.

If someone wants a 14" blade, one can fetch some steel from a junkyard and apply an angle grinder to it. Best results with leaf springs. Then wrap one end with electrical tape and it'll chop an arm or a head off no problem. A bit more effort with the grinder and you get yourself something like a gladius.

Now, what is the point of those bans? So people feel safer while not being safer?
