It maybe a novelty feature as you suggest for many companies; however, this is not universal. There are many companies that use it as a primary desktop operating system Pop!_os, and products released by tuxedo, starlabs, and slimbook. -- these are truly a desktop focus.

that's beyond folks like me that run my own linux desktop on my own gaming pc.

I wondered that too and then saw this from tfa:

“ "If you recall the Wankel," says Schkolnik, "they have a triangular rotor inside a peanut-shaped housing. We have the opposite, a peanut-shaped rotor in a tri-lobed housing. So take everything you know about the Wankel and turn it literally inside out. They have a long, skinny, moving combustion chamber, we have a stationary combustion chamber that's nice and round. You can drive it to a high compression, just by making the chamber smaller. And because it's stationary, we can directly inject fuel where the Wankel could not. So those are the two key advantages of the diesel: high compression ratio and direct injection.”

yup, I go camping in the Canadian winter and have been overnight many nights at below -35C, might have hit a balmy -40C before.. not sure..

Below, is super important.. I use closed-cell mats designed for winter camping and carrying in the backpack.

Somehow I don't think the cats would work so well under the sleeping bags..

For my use case, I choose to be mostly serverless -- I use Resilio Sync. It's not a perfect solution as they still host the tracker and if one device cannot find another then it routes via their servers, but otherwise all my documents are stored on my devices.

Another feature lacking is sharing with a non-resilio user is not possible with Resilio Sync.
