Re:Nobody Knows How to Build with AI Yet on Sunday July 20, 2025 @05:27AM (#44623333)
consider it like this: you are not paying the amount of worked hours but for the expertise to judge, coach and guide the AI and its output according to your wishes. so if the result is good and within time and budget, why would you care?
My house also doesnt generate cash flow/interest by itself, must have an intrinsic value of zero. Surprisingly it can be used as collateral for a loan as long as other people assign a (however disputable) value to it. So, of course you could be right when all (not just you) other people decide that BTC has a value of zero. Meanwhile i use my BTCs as collateral. Value is more of a social judgment, not a law of nature. Hence the misconception?
It isnt when you look at Q total. Total energy input for all needed support systems versus energy produced. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fusion_energy_gain_factor for more details
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quintessentially_Group would be another one. American Express has a concierge service for their wealthier clients as do most big banks with services for their wealthy clients
thanks for "misurable". i'll steal this wonderful combination of miserable and measurable, i see lots of use in devops for it... ;-)
I came to the same conclusion. My usual research routine nowadays starts at "what product is used by (semi-)professionals".
Am very satisified with https://en.air-q.com/funktionen/air-q-science-option that offers a lot of sensors (https://en.air-q.com/messwerte). Good UI, API-accessible and integration in HA works just fine. Rather pricey though, depending how many sensors you choose.
Re:Apple is launching its own password manager app on Tuesday June 11, 2024 @04:58AM (#40644039)
for this requirement i choose to use encrypted sparse files (can be created with the disk manager app) which i store on the icloud. is only of use if you happen to have a laptop with you as mounting them is not supported in iOS
NSO is just a strawman for the government of Israel. Surveillance technology is a very successful soft power tool, as the dictators crave its capabilities to stay in power. Pegasus is world class technology, so Israel could score a lot of brownie points by allowing these sales. Too bad they got too greedy and sloppy and allowed the phones of some US officials in Africa to be infected. Coincidentally there was a leak of 50000 phone numbers and NSO goes boom. Israeli "security diplomacy" rebuilt NSO and is still going strong, surprised i am not :-(

i guess which and the number of extensions will have a significant effect on lag
I wouldnt be so sure, one can think of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batterygate as an example of a little bit of "bricking"

Re:"Parental controls? What parental controls?" on Saturday November 18, 2023 @05:21AM (#38317749)
if your measure of successful parenting is the 100% compliance with your rules: how can your child learn if every mistake is met with harsh disciplinary measures? how can it learn when every try/misstep isnt met with guidance but a penalty? judging from your text your educational style resembles more of a bootcamp. no judgement here, but please rethink this.
loved using blendle, for about 2 years i regularly spent about 50 EUR/m on articles. then the honeymoon phase of blendle and the publishers was over and it became clear the model just wont work. for publishers an article (usually sold for between 99 cents and 2 euro) is more than a product to be sold, as the price doesnt cover all costs. they usually have only a handful of "flagship articles" with some kind of exclusive content. they need these to capture the audience into subscriptions. this regular audience can then also be sold ads and merchandise/other stuff.

for me as user it was essential that i had access to more than 80% of the best articles of all publications for sale. as most publishers came to see that publishing their flagship articles cannibalized them selling subscriptions and eliminated their secondary revenue streams they resorted to periodically publishing only some bait articles to lure audiences to their core offers. thus the incentives of all 3 (me as user, publishers, blendle) did not align and its usefullness as a product suffered. some publishers tried to raise the price of their flagship articles to cover more of their costs, but who pays 4 EUR for a single article? so, the business model just doesnt work. enjoyed it while it lasted though

i suppose for the same reason you cannot prohibit breathing, it is a biological fact to be considered when drafting regulations. rules without being able to enforce them would show the governing body as weak and clueless, undermining its authority. a rather big no-no for most "powers". rest assured when more people wear AR-type glasses they sure as hell will inject "rules" in the software to control/limit what you see. to protect of course

please stop spreading unfounded and vicious rumours - or show us some proof.
while i agree with your conclusions regarding the probability if a "forever"-plan will be honoured, people are rightfully pissed. and it doesnt matter if people bought on a whim or after extensive research, the company advertised it as "forever" and when they now dont honour the deal they should be called out as fraudster/liars. cause thats what it is and i dont care if others do it too.
in german "Spelunke" is used for a seedy, shady bar
in the short run this system might make sense for some use cases, the future it is not. chainless systems will take over for e-bikes, e.g. https://www.schaeffler-industrial-drives.com/en/news_media/p... First used here: https://www.golem.de/news/free-drive-schaeffler-baut-kettenl... (german only, sorry). 250W is low, so there needs to happen some development for more use case.

china can get all mentioned resources (fertilizer, pig iron, food, steel) from their neighbors (esp. russia). no way to cut china off. the days of low-quality are long gone. semiconductors and some other hightech are the only pressure points still available, and the US tries to use these.

Then you can decide for your org to not trust them and perhaps use a different certifier. i would welcome them offering such a service instead of having none.

would add: * ransomware * cross-border money transfer, in particular from/to authoritarian regimes like china

prime example of someone paying dues to his extended network by nudging the narrative of a fellow networker/his parents to a somewhat less damaging vector. next: alan dershowitz. disgusting
i asked their support and they acknowledged the removal of PDF-printing, regarding attachment: i didnt mean an attached file but the ability to e.g. save a secure note as an attachment. my fault for using bad english. your remark that you can save an attachment via download button is correct.
I also use 1PW and agree it is a good choice. I would be cautious with saving too much information and files (documents, keyfiles etc) in it. With their latest update to v8 they removed the ability to print as PDF or save an attachment, so you will have a very hard time getting it out. Only way seems to be screenshot (too bad if the text is longer than a screen) or sharing via mail (you get the draft and from there copy the attachment). Am not sure if they try to hold your data hostage (VC "capture value" play) or greatly overshot on security.

Re:Apple’s next big thing: A business model change on Monday September 12, 2022 @12:20PM (#32812590)
Au contraire, see 96% of apple users who decided they do not want to be tracked if given the choice. You still may be right about apples behaviour later on, who knows, but your 99% feels somewhat, lets say, unsubstantiated

For non-US citizens the US constitution also has no relevance. Thus for non-US citizens it makes no real difference

the groundworks, at least partially, happen as you typed this: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-01627-2
2 x 3 years would be 6 years. 1950 to 2022 are 72 years. So 6 years of 72 years would be 8,3 percent. YMMV if this can be considered rare
