As a french: “as a french” is incorrect english. That does not mean anything.

Wouldn't the zlib licence fit here?

But Linus is bad at everything except writing C code.
Re:C++ 20: The Core Language on Wednesday November 06, 2019 @10:52AM (#21463725)
It’s a very heavy dependency, in many ways.
Re:Unfork() on Wednesday October 30, 2019 @03:35PM (#21401625)
In the git context, fork doesn’t really mean anything. That’s just a github thing.

Please don't, not everyone is american, not everyone uses a qwerty keyboard.

Why would I listen to someone that puts vegetables in the fridge…?
Re:Do we need to rethink what free software is? on Sunday September 29, 2019 @02:12PM (#21108637)
These three licenses all conform with both the Open Source Definition AND the Free Software Definition.

Please explain how. Since firefox 57 (quantum), there's precisely no way to do that properly...

Re:What Is Null? (2010) on Saturday August 03, 2019 @11:27PM (#20604253)
Enable JS to, LITTERALLY, just display black text on white background. No image that loads when you scroll or whatever, no fancy sidebar that scrolls weirdly and annoys you, nothing. Just plain text. And you need javascript.

That’s absurd.

Re:How to stop Apple from listening to your Siri recordings on Thursday August 01, 2019 @12:41PM (#20585597)
So… This is just a “please, don’t record what I send you”? How could anyone believe apple will obey this demand?
Re:uBlock Origin 1.20 on Monday June 17, 2019 @03:06AM (#20200585)
It makes the list like chromium, not ublock origin.
Re:Firefox 66.0.4 is out, fixes disabled add-ons on Sunday May 05, 2019 @06:02PM (#19835368)
For you, sure.

For all the people that had their browser completely broken for the whole day, without any reason, however…

And your one-day fix, how much time do you think it will take to be deployed on people’s linux system? Probably a few days or more. Probably enough for them to realize that they can just switch to Chrome to have a working browser.

Re:Git implemented in Rust on Monday April 01, 2019 @04:26AM (#19541493)
No, you copied on your hard drive something that was offered to you for free on github.

Hosting that code yourself somewhere else would be illegal though.

Re:A few simple steps to vastly increase your privacy online on Saturday March 23, 2019 @04:30AM (#19469597)
That's wrong though, the ICANN sees the whole domain, dissidents.github.io and replies with "I don't know, but ask the owner of .IO which is xx.xx.xx.xx"

Well, unless the servers implement https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc7816, which is experimental and quite recent.

Unbound seems to support it, which is great (and that makes you right, actually, if the user installs this software). I don't know for others.

Using github's issues as a question forum is probably a great misuse...
Re:IRC turns thirty on Friday August 24, 2018 @03:37AM (#17833417)
It might seem weird, and probably will not please everyone, but in my experience, using an XMPP client (Conversations) along with biboumi (an XMPP <-> IRC bridge, https://biboumi.louiz.org (note: I'm the author)) is the best way to use IRC on mobile:

- You can idle in the channels without doing hundreds of part/join when your phone loses the connection

- You get the full backlog of what was said while your phone was offline

And you can host just one biboumi instance for all your users. You can even configure it to connect to just one IRC server. The users just have to join channels like #[email protected]

Re:GitLab 11 released on Saturday June 23, 2018 @01:27PM (#17382289)
What’s wrong with having the issues, project management stuff, CI, etc in one place, as long as you control that place?
Re:Firefox 59 released on Wednesday March 14, 2018 @02:04PM (#16586887)
Yeah, so, nothing really useful when what you’re waiting for is proper keyboard customization.
Re:Saying Goodbye to Slack’s IRC and XMPP Gateways on Wednesday March 07, 2018 @06:54PM (#16541097)
No. What SamWhited probably meant is “It’s better to use XMPP-client -> biboumi -> slack’s irc gateway -> slack than XMPP-client -> slack’s XMPP gateway -> slack”. Because otherwise, the comment makes no sense, since biboumi is not a native Slack gateway.

So, since both XMPP and IRC gateway will disappear, it does not help.

Re:Google's C++ Class on Wednesday March 07, 2018 @01:36PM (#16538625)

This is the biggest issue with this. STOP TEACHING “using namespace std;”. This is bad, bad, bad, and it sucks.

Re:New FreeBSD Code of Conduct on Sunday February 18, 2018 @03:14PM (#16408183)
Your rule 3 would probably create a looooot of drama.

So, attempt failed.

I don’t understand, what does it do?
Re:Firefox 57.0 Released on Tuesday November 14, 2017 @10:13AM (#15695667)
Same for me, there’s no VimFX or Keysnail equivalent. I’ll just stay on firefox 57-0a1 (that’s an old alpha release, where (strangely) VimFX and the good old Tree Style Tab still work) for a long time.
Re:Firefox 57.0 Released on Tuesday November 14, 2017 @10:09AM (#15695636)
what concerns do you have regarding firefox’s security?
Re:Firefox 57.0 Released on Tuesday November 14, 2017 @10:07AM (#15695615)
- Open a new window: the tabs are not there by default - You need a css hack to hide the standard bar - There’s an ugly title thingy at the top of the tab pane

Customizability is a very useful feature for many people.

Indeed. I hope it has not been deleted because many comments here are mostly negative…
