If this graph were true wouldn't we be seeing attacks all the time? If coins could be exploited for just hundreds of dollars they'd be rendered useless pretty quickly. This can't possibly be accurate.

Inflammation is like a bad mechanic. It's meant to fix things but sometimes messes it up.

Re:Bitcoin hits $10,000 on Wednesday November 29, 2017 @12:03PM (#15808466)
Their market cap has gone up $68 million in the last 12 hours. If it's truly pegged doesn't that mean they've taken in $68M in that span of time?
Here's the next line from your [1] link that's pretty crazy as well.

"They conclude that "release of up to 50 Gt of predicted amount of hydrate storage [is] highly possible for abrupt release at any time". That would increase the methane content of the planet's atmosphere by a factor of twelve"

Or to use your height comparison the richest billionaires would be over 6,000,000 feet tall.

Around Mid 2013 Bitcoin supply was around 11.5M coins so 630K was more like 5.5% of total Bitcoin. Just using a different kind of math. There's more coins now so using todays market cap % makes it seem less then it actually was.

Put another way, the easiest way to leave a legacy is to have children. But there are so many other ways!

So it makes them huge profits but they simply don't want to keep it going? Time for someone to step in and take their profits.

Re:Cheap Recurring Payments with Stripe and AWS Lambda on Tuesday June 06, 2017 @02:34PM (#14499821)
Both webhooks and looking at your subscription settings are important. Here's some documentation on how to do both.

https://stripe.com/docs/webhooks

https://stripe.com/docs/subscriptions/lifecycle

The webhooks are important because stripe doesn't email you about failed payments you need to do that on your own.

And the default for a 3 time failed subscription over a 15 day period is to remove the subscription which you can easily change to keeping it but labeling it unpaid among other things.

These same people will also vote against their own best interests because they think they'll be one of those well off people eventually.

Re:Going for the 5 hour workday on Wednesday May 31, 2017 @04:50PM (#14455808)
Especially when you're telling them they only need to work 6 hours. If my boss said we're moving to 6 hours a day, I'll be pretty happy to oblige and be in when they need me.
That's their official response, and rightly so it should be. Talking from experience, I've had many requests for different websites I run and almost all were frivolous. Some content I took down anyways, and some I explained to Amazon why it was frivolous. They've never cancelled any of my services or even threatened to.
Amazon's not in the business of terminating accounts the second a copyright request comes in. They want to build trust with their customers that they won't just turn you off on a whim.
With enough money there are countries that would be happy to let you retire there.

This is the value behind MAYA "Most Advanced Yet Acceptable" pioneered by Raymond Loewy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raymond_Loewy
What pisses me off is I get all that and more for less money already.

If you look hard enough it's easy to see what's really happening in Syria. I think all these veiled attempts to fuzz the truth only fool the ones who vaguely look for it.
Re:Lyrebird – An API to copy the voice of anyone on Monday April 24, 2017 @12:43PM (#14185748)
The problem isn't about the ones who already critically think.
Maybe in the future they'll simply erase the memory you had of being part of the trial.

I reread this comment like 4 times. I really like the simplicity of it but how profound it is.

I guess we can't be too upset when people don't obey our rules if we aren't providing for their basic survival.
