Thanks. I will try to talk to dealerships. Sounds like a good sales channel.
Re:I Returned My iPhone Duo on Friday October 30, 2026 @05:33AM (#50301580)
There is always at least one guy in the room flashing newest phone. Maybe author is one of them.
In the case of armed conflict with the West all Chinese inverters will be weaponized to burn homes in the West. The shops will be empty in the West and West will be in very ugly situation outsourcing all the manufacturing. Better it doesn’t happen.
Don’t worry. Every third turret will shoot also non lethal rubber bullets to deal with knit wire holders.
At the time of Munich Olympics German workers did occasionally electronics assembly at home. Or some electromechanical components like switches, relays, cabling, you name it. Pay per piece, not hourly rate. Simple hardware in today’s terms with generous pay. Later it was automated and today completely outsourced. Cycle seen in so many industries.

I can repeat myself: history repeats often enough.

History repeats itself. Now it’s the moment of weaving machines. AI is the new weaving machine. It needs couple guys for the maintenance. The other 198 guys were freed from the hard work. It’s not the CAD moment.
Hello fellow electrician, I was previously electrical engineer :-) I enjoy healthy weight loss while not sitting continuously in the office.
Re:Fable Took My Job on Monday October 12, 2026 @09:13AM (#50055964)
Haven’t you discovered these electric carbon mountain bikes for 5000-8000€ yet? With wireless seat height adjustment and all the imaginable bells&whistles. They need at least one check for 400-600€ a year. Not much cheaper is the check for normal 2000-4000€ electric bicycle. And they are super popular here in wealthier neighborhoods.
Re:Fable Took My Job on Monday October 12, 2026 @05:47AM (#50053876)
BMW management believes they can get 30% workforce out and replace the jobs with AI. The executives will not be replaced. Peasants like me will.

ChatGPT can go long way designing printed circuit boards with text based KiCad. Luckily most companies stick to the expensive overengineered (for normal boards) tools like Altium. That part of workforce is safe for a while.

I am moving from electrical engineer to electrician right now. The money is the same (in Germany). I vibecoded my CRM/invoicing/protocol generation/warehouse tool by myself. Over 120 iterations with ChatGPT. And this was scary!!! A decade ago such development would cost 6 figures to develop and 5000-8000€ a year to use. Now it’s on my computer working the way I want. <100€, no need for software team.

Re:Tesla takes on $30B in credit as it approaches unprofitability on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @01:44AM (#49904822)
Elon gambled with cybertruck and didn’t won. The winning strategy was to outcompete Chinese with smaller affordable vehicle. I would call it common sense strategy after all.
Re:Toyota is finally taking its best-seller electric on Thursday September 24, 2026 @02:50PM (#49835192)
I own very first model Y, but wouldn’t buy the facelift. Changing gears swiping touchscreen is too much despite many real improvements. Build quality is definitely not premium, but it was single electrical vehicle I was able to afford and use as a substitute for petrol car. Many others at the time were good only as 2nd or 3rd car in the household.
I am pretty sure every bigger German company has active sales team waiting for the end of the sanctions to fly on the same day to Moscow and continue/start new business. Construction materials, cars&trucks, oil refinery equipment, new deeper bunkers… everything is needed in russia. The west doesn’t see an enemy. Enemy of freedom, free speech and free thinking. Freedom to be a gay or autistic person in public. Euros and dollars matter though.
Re:Spain Orders Blocks on Archive.today and Its Mirrors on Sunday September 20, 2026 @04:03AM (#49773605)
I was been there. I mean socialist fantasy and everyone was equally poor except party members. It is astonishing to watch this shit happening in different countries with different cultures during long period of time. But with same end. And it is not prosperity. This time in Berlin as recent example: https://www.politico.eu/article/berlin-election-housing-cris...
Re:PCB is brought to you by Fable 5 on Thursday September 17, 2026 @05:09AM (#49738202)
Machine routing is very old thing. Early Eagle did it fine. I worked 12 years ago on 4 layer pcb initially routed with Eagle. Layers with horizontal and vertical wires were unusual at the time, but the board worked fine. It’s the connector placement according enclosure design files, part management/availability/obsolescence and design for test what needs reliable automation. The tool may not hallucinate here.
Re:EU chief opens door for Canada to become 'associate member' on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @07:57AM (#49725493)
With 2 billion people you’re absolute power. Internal market with middle class size of whole United States. No need for wallstreet and American style financial engineering. Producer of 80% goods for Europe. I mean buying something mainstream not made in China is barely possible. Technically there are some challenges like plane engines or lithography. But they’ll nail it. Trust me.
Re:Pion, an agent designed to run any company autonomously on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @02:12AM (#49708411)
You’re mixing things up. Coding is work while managing is status. Management will force the peasants to use any pitchfork management wants. But giving status and power away will never happen. It’s obvious that there enough managers to replace with AI for positive outcome. Bet it will never happen.
Re:Your car is selling your data on Monday September 14, 2026 @03:09AM (#49693013)
There is always a citizen who honestly thinks that emperor is good and loves the citizens. The reality is that emperor loves the citizens that love the emperor and will do everything to find and destroy the citizens that don’t love the emperor. History books are full of such examples.

Right now I am repairing old car that does not track me, does not film me and doesn’t try to drive me. It’s a such a great joy to drive it without stupid beeping and automatic wheel movements. Especially without suicidal steering in construction sites when the modern system fails.

The kids will reach one day the age to be legit participants in LAN party. Just saying…
Re:ChatGPT ad targeting is garbage on Wednesday September 02, 2026 @01:33PM (#49539596)
I saw them today in the app and yeah… first idea - enshitification. Ads were cringe. But google works the same way - cringe ads. I use google in 3-4 different languages and it’s completely lost.
Re:Stripe said to abandon $50B pursuit of PayPal on Friday August 28, 2026 @05:34AM (#49476364)
Käuferschutz! Safety for the buyer is amazing. I love PayPal, some incident and I have my money in no time back. No endless back and forth with stupid bank clerk. PayPal costs money, I would ditch it for a discount sized as Paypal fee though.
Doing good work leads you nowhere. You need to be in the game of power. Be visible, know every 3 levels of managers by name. Otherwise you’re only number in payroll’s sheet. Modern tech companies are not different from world war 2 era factories imho. Account xyz@bigcompany pushing lines of code to endless repo. No face, no name. Boring. Boring reasonable and reliable. That’s not what hiring people are looking for. You must be a rockstar, conference speaker and leader of few open source projects now. Skills, experience and good work ethic is not enough.
Re:How Europe is killing makers and micro-entrepreneurs on Monday August 24, 2026 @01:35PM (#49423243)
A self employed person can deduct many things used personally from the taxes in Germany as a business expense. An employed person pays shit ton of taxes and the value added tax. So from pre-tax salary you get only 30% for spending. Lol. It’s slavery.
Re:New EU-wide product repair rules come into force on Monday August 24, 2026 @06:33AM (#49417810)
How good is your employer prepared for Cyber Resilience Act?
Re:New EU-wide product repair rules come into force on Monday August 24, 2026 @04:42AM (#49416918)
Good luck to hardware startups in Europe! For every developer now a company needs one technical writer or compliance specialist. That basically means that all small everyday electronics products will come from overseas. Either because it’s cheaper or it’s cheaper and nobody cares about certification.
I am pretty sure my phone is listening. The ads I see this week are about topics I discussed last week. Week for week. Stupid thing is that I need the phone to have near by as self-employed electrician. Clients want to communicate after regular office hours. Since the phone is rigged why computer shouldn’t?
Re:How does IKEA come up with names for its products? on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @05:25PM (#49352942)
The thing is that recent products are crappy. I got so many decades old secondhand things. They looked like regular old furniture and it was fine. Then I continued buying same things, but new. While the old furniture didn’t change at all the new pieces became yellow/brown after couple tears. We don’t smoke!!! It was a nightmare and I don’t buy IKEA products anymore.
Re:OpenAI's Only Ethicist Reportedly Left Last Month on Wednesday August 12, 2026 @02:00AM (#49268359)
During my years at big corp we did tons of work just to go around the law department. While for core business it made absolute sense to have lawyers involved in daily business we were satellite office decoupled from core business. Local management failed to communicate that and we were stalked by lawyers from main office. Pretty sure others do the same with compliance, law, ethics departments. Just work around to get things done instead of stuck for weeks in stupid meetings.
Re:The USSR in 100 Photographs on Saturday August 08, 2026 @08:56AM (#49221450)
Look, you had PRL back then and some basic freedom. It’s quite different status than the countries under direct control from Moscow. People had kids, but didn’t talk either. Why? Because you didn’t want to be reported to KGB by your friendly neighbor. Who accidentally visited you during Xmas Eve and didn’t leave before midnight. Maybe for you the collapse of USSR is not that big thing. But for your northern neighbors it is!
Re:The USSR in 100 Photographs on Saturday August 08, 2026 @08:47AM (#49221363)
This topic is very interesting. People from former Soviet states learned what and when to say. Sometimes in brutal inhumane way. Saying that dad brought some sausage or construction material from work was a thing kids learned not to say in public very early. There were many things no to say. Like Xmas or Easter celebrations were topic for family members only. Burial with a priest was tabu. Grandfather fighting Soviet occupation was a big secret kids never knew about. Knowing that having and reading some books were a way to have big troubles. You needed to get mature quickly to live normal life under Soviet occupation. It was really shocking when I arrived in West Germany that guys in their 30s were behaving like Soviet teens.
Re:The USSR in 100 Photographs on Saturday August 08, 2026 @08:37AM (#49221274)
Picture 9 with 12 string electric guitar. Extremely rare instrument. Normal 6 string electric guitars were very average quality. Rock music was anyway not desired. Coming from the wrong place. Every piece of popular musicians was reviewed by state organs. Endless censorship everywhere.
