Re:ASML says it sold 'absolutely nothing' in Europe in 2026 on Sunday September 27, 2026 @01:55PM (#49869065)
USA just can’t compete at banana production, film at 11.
Re:There are no "rogue" AI agents on Sunday September 27, 2026 @01:44PM (#49868957)
Oh please. Bernie is using it for attention. Don’t act like democrats don’t utilize issues for mediat attention just as much as republicans.
Re:What It's Like to Work in One of America's Data Centers on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @08:02AM (#49799879)
Nearby skilled labor, police/fire infrastructure willing to handle it, and ease of demo/tours/sales for clients to install their racks. Also much more stable power.
Re:Patterns and problems in emerging multi-agent systems on Sunday August 16, 2026 @03:35PM (#49322937)
Na, they seem to constantly set up scenarios to create headlines. Stuff like “it hacked out of its container and tried to self replicate!” Where in reality it used provided skills and permissions while doing the thing they prompted it to do.
Re:Patterns and problems in emerging multi-agent systems on Sunday August 16, 2026 @09:18AM (#49319787)
Eh. This is anthropics whole marketing strategy… making the AI seem hard to manage, like it’s actually intelligent.
Re:Meta to cut 10% of jobs, or 8k employees on Friday April 24, 2026 @09:30AM (#47890004)
Yes, they do. In fact, they have several competing committees to market the concepts internally through armies of PMs and TPMs and KPIs and efficiency metrics tracking. Also your AI token use of course.
Re:Microsoft Outlook thinks Microsoft Azure emails are spam on Sunday February 08, 2026 @08:38PM (#46940576)
Bullshit, it doesn’t block a damn thing for me ever lol
Re:IPv6 just turned 30 and still hasn't taken over the world on Saturday January 03, 2026 @10:16AM (#46477608)
“Given addresses” != adoption. Hell, I had to disable it in osx because it breaks the damn hotspot connection functionality. Wasn’t using it, it’s just there, breaking shit and being useless.
Re:IPv6 just turned 30 and still hasn't taken over the world on Saturday January 03, 2026 @10:09AM (#46477525)
It would maybe be okay at the router to break some things, but ffs even in software I have to choose? Why do I need both ping and ping6 this is stupid!! They really screwed up by making it a breaking change to the OS and not just internet routing.
Re:IPv6 just turned 30 and still hasn't taken over the world on Saturday January 03, 2026 @10:06AM (#46477497)
Do you live under a rock? The memorability of ipv4 was one of the major issues brought up from the very beginning.
Re:Why We Migrated from Python to Node.js on Monday November 03, 2025 @06:50PM (#45805914)
Async in Python in general really… The way they implemented it is basically a valley of footguns and broken dreams.
Re:The Country That Broke Kotlin on Sunday October 12, 2025 @07:17PM (#45562952)
It’s always Turkish lol. That was our language of choice to QA anything… if it worked on that it would pretty much work on anything.
Re:Think twice before abandoning X11. Wayland breaks everything on Friday September 12, 2025 @10:13AM (#45222378)
X11 with compiz was peak Linux, now it feels like a corporate featureless wasteland run by accountants.
Because it’s terrible. People don’t avoid non-terrible things.
Re:Amazon has mostly sat out the AI talent war on Monday September 01, 2025 @04:03PM (#45096124)
I agree but it doesn’t seem to be intentional on their part.
Re:Amazon has mostly sat out the AI talent war on Monday September 01, 2025 @03:35PM (#45095877)
Didnt they basically can most of Alexa a few years ago? I think they realized asking a device questions doesn’t generate profit.
Or the ones that do 10+ faked “AP” classes over the summer and transfer those credits in. Not kidding.
Ungameable… lol. Take a look at Asian countries for what happens when you rely only on grades… cheating becomes the norm since numbers are all that matter.
Heat is needed, not sunlight.
Re:Practical /dev/TCP in the HTTPS Era on Monday June 02, 2025 @09:40PM (#44165383)
I feel you’ve missed the point. They’re not trying to use https, they can’t, they are downloading tools that only exist online as https links from a legacy system that only supports http. They simply couldn’t download jack shit and came up with a way to do it.
Sounds like typical hyperbole. Worked at a place once where some “security researcher” trashed the product because they could do bad things on the appliance… if logged in as root.
Having interviewed many people from there, I can only assume they hire anyone with a pulse and give them major features to write in a language they don’t know.
“Jack of all trades, master of none, is usually better than master of one”
Re:I should have loved biology too on Tuesday April 22, 2025 @05:43PM (#43766604)
This is why most good teachers don’t use the books but find creative ways to still meet the standards. More work though, so fewer do it now with pay being so shit.
Yea, wondering “what if” is totally worse than being dead in a gutter.
Re:We need to protect the protocol that runs Bluesky on Sunday January 19, 2025 @11:42AM (#42758609)
And rightfully so, because it’s a stupid feature to not have and most people want an app not an ideology.
Rigged? Or just convinced enough idiots with propaganda?
Dubious at best, lol, Isn’t that half of all of cosmology? Lots of pure math these days and little science it seems.
IIRC It’s not that light is a medium. It is that light goes that particular speed max (photons can go slower in fact) because that is the speed of causality.
Re:Understanding How Bureaucracy Develops on Monday October 21, 2024 @09:04AM (#41903739)
Ah that’s the original, I was going off an old memory.
