I almost forgot how shitty the Siemens keyboards were.
Re:Singapore subway (mrt) information display types on Saturday September 05, 2026 @05:10PM (#49580723)
Yes, they were, back then. Back in the day when the North-South and East-West line were built (mid 80s) Conrac (today DATA MODUL) was really big in manufacturing plasma screens for airports, etc. in Germany. Pretty sure they are replaced with LCD today though.
Steven Hassan, who developed the BITE model, is really missing on that list. You're absolutely correct, not everything that checks the boxes of the model necessarily is a cult, but more often than not it's only a small step to transform into one.
Not in this administration.
He'll be nullifying any agreement within two or three tantrums anyway, eventually we will learn and retaliate.
Re:Carolina Cloud pays SOFR on unused prepaid credits on Thursday July 30, 2026 @11:07AM (#49111132)
Even with credits or tokens or whatever, it's not completely trivial to find the spot where you can accept customers payments in advance and not be subject to financial regulatory frameworks.

Which is a good thing. While it may seem strange to regulate these things for good faith actors, it's obvious why it's a great when thinking about bad faith actors.

If you get one of the Cloud devices, you won't need to, as they bring their own.

When I read your comment, I instantly knew which one.

JD Vance has to save all of Europe because of checks notes lack of free speech. /s
For internal apps, you could go through ADEP [1] if you want to avoid the app store + review + custom apps route. But eligibility requriements have been tightened over the years IIRC.

There's an "Operation Paperclip" joke hidden in here somewhere.

Probably someone had an adderal fueled night with an LLM, that's just completely mad.

Hear me out on this, while it often may seem to be the case that it looks like everyone has it, it very well may just be that you unknowingly choose your surrounding in a way that simply everyone around you has it.

Re:EU mandates replaceable batteries by 2027 (2023) on Saturday February 21, 2026 @06:47AM (#47099899)
The point being made is that if batteries can be replaced without specialized tools and training, the chances of that being done could be higher, potentially leading to longer usage time and reduced e-waste.
Re:Wero – Digital payment wallet, made in Europe on Monday February 16, 2026 @03:15PM (#47039741)
I don't see, why a smartphone plus NFC enabled token device wouldn't work within the regulation, we should go that way, (or any way decoupling Google & Co. from it) because we should be prepared for US companies to be forced to act unreasonably by an unreasonable leader.

Third hottest year on record, so far.
Re:STFU on Friday January 16, 2026 @04:12PM (#46652283)
Both. It's not who caused the jam. Operating these things isn't legal to begin with.
Re:STFU on Friday January 16, 2026 @04:09PM (#46652243)
Oh, I had that in my old office building, everyone but me was buying and selling fruit and they were dealing while shitting in the communal bathrooms. Really weird when you just want to defecate and suddenly someone yells into their phone YES I'LL BUY EVERYTHING.
Behaviour that would be consistent with stimulant abuse.
Re:It's Always TCP_nodelay on Tuesday December 23, 2025 @04:30AM (#46363814)
Technical debt goes hard, I had a discussion with a facilities guy why they never got around to ditch the last remnants of token ring in an office park. Fortunately in 2020 they had plenty of time to rip that stuff out without disturbing facility operation. Building automation, security and so on often lives way longer than you'd dare planning.
No matter what, as soon as you offer relaying or negotiating a relay of money between users, people will find a way to use it for money laundering.
Re:I Am Mark Zuckerberg on Sunday November 09, 2025 @09:34AM (#45865856)
That is so incredibly smart. I have a very common gmail address (initial + last name) and literally hundreds of people use this mail address and I would love to resolve the countless issues I can witness from getting the mails alone, but I essentially have no chance at all.
Usually these ISPs are part of or under the municipal utility provider. So if they lose money, it first gets offset by profits from other utilities and eventually yes, the taxpayer will step in, directly or indirectly. No big deal. No one is complaining about subsidies for water or power lines in rural areas, neither should they when it comes to internet. Remember: These ISPs were founded because the market was already failing to provide decent offers or any at all.
I've been in banking for quite some time of my life and hands down, there is no country in the world that makes bankers with let's say questionable skills in risk assessment and decision making more afraid. Millions in fines, maybe more? Zero fucks given. Messing with regulators in Singapore? Not worth it. Wouldn't be surprised if they send or have sent people out to tell the somewhat gory stories of the canings in Singapore.

Personally, I don't believe in preventive effects of draconian punishment, but I also don't believe in cokeheads. Being a cokehead in Singapore means risking facing the mandatory death sentence for posession of more than 30g of cocaine, which depending on the habit is a months supply max for some.

You might want to freshen up your history lessons with maybe some less revisionist sources, because Mussolini-wise I have some bad news for you.
