Re:The Hitler Salute Was Never German on Saturday July 25, 2026 @05:13PM (#49051630)
Regardless of where it originated or what it may have meant in other contexts, it’s been used enough to represent and be associated with the Nazi party and its ideology that today it’s almost universally recognized as a symbol of that history. Regardless of intent, that association is what it communicates.

Given the current rise of fascism around the world, this whole “well, actually, it’s really the Roman salute” discussion feels like a Nebelkerze — a smoke screen that distracts from the symbol’s actual, present-day meaning and function.

Andrew Zolty under the artist name BREAKFAST has created quite a few stunning kinetic artworks with flipdisks.

Just one example: https://theartistbreakfast.com/works/traverse

Also created a larger more sculpted derivative the „brixel“ a rotating brick as pixel. Eg https://theartistbreakfast.com/works/oceans

Jetzig reads funny in german something like "now-ish"

Jetzt = now [1]

German adjective suffix: -ig [2] The German suffix -ig attaches to nouns, verbs and even adverbs. Given this flexibility, it ranks among the most common adjective endings in German. You can use -ig words to express that something is a certain way or happens a certain way. traurig: sad, sadly wässrig: watery knackig: crunchy, crispy abhängig: dependent, addicted geizig: stingy

Looking to create something just like this for chores at home.

Inspired by https://www.laurieherault.com/articles/a-thermal-receipt-pri...

And

https://youtu.be/xg45b8UXoZI

Hoping it will make chores more visible and fun to complete for the whole family.

I picked up a used star tsp100 printer and usb 2d barcode scanner.

Still looking for a backend though. Idealy with Homeassistant integration for automating todos that already have sensors and data such as taking out the trash.

https://www.donetick.com looks promising.

Could you share some more technicalities on your setup?

Are political bots now on HN as well? This is such a polarizing post willfully ignoring legislation and historical background. Aimed at dividing public opinion instead of discussing the topic at hand: political influence of X through feed aggregation.

This!
That something might just be the urgency of change in things we’ve taken for grander the past ~2 generations (~60years)

Right at the top of that list: - using fossil fuels as cheap energy - assuming continued growth while earths resources are limited (yes tech is getting more efficient) - relying on respected and trusted media entities (opposed to outlets bought by corporations with clear interests or maybe(?) state controlled social media trolls

Change is happening, coming fast and is becoming harder to ignore but people don’t like change.

Marion Richardson Handwriting was first published in 1935 and continued to be used in schools until the 1980s. It consists of five copy books, each with a different level of difficulty, and a teacher's book that explains the methods and materials to be used. You can download the copy books for free from this link: [Writing and Writing Patterns](https://archive.org/details/dli.ernet.54007.)

How do you manage disagreements in fusion?
There’s certainly truth to this. However I’ll take it with quite a bit of salt. especially since it Echos the fear uncertainty and doubt spread during the model 3 ramp, excuse the hyperbole but according to which Tesla was already dead in the water wouldn’t ever make it and employees were forced to give their first born to the company.

I had the Tesla Mobile Service come by today to replace a broken camera. Rarely have I met such a positive, well spirited „repair guy“.

I remember when pose detection was announced, showing an app that corrected your workout movements. i have yet to see an app that actually does that. i'd love to have the equivalent of a personal trainer showing me where i need to adjust my pose in say pushups or other simple excercies.

thus im equally sceptical of seeing these apis used. it seems developers are mostly porting web apps to all platforms ignoring neat but platform specific apis like this.

please prove me wrong and link some awesome apps that use pose detection.

Reminds me of Ed Dodd’s domain: eddodd.com

His mail address being

[email protected]

“Yeah that’s ed dot dodd at ed dodd dot com”

Has he though? If you read the headlines defiantly. If you read the follow up reports, no not so much.

Maybe I’m missing something though. Would you mind expanding what exactly you had in mind when writing this?

Thanks for introducting me to AHP. Does anyone else have experience with this process for decission making?
