Location: Brussels, Belgium (CET) Remote: Yes (remote only)

Technologies: Python, FastAPI, Pydantic, asyncio, SQLAlchemy, Docker, OpenTelemetry, PostgreSQL, Redis, GitHub Actions, MCP Protocol, Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, SvelteKit, TypeScript (working), SwiftUI Résumé/CV: https://linkedin.com/in/levalencia Email: [email protected]

Senior Python engineer. 10x Microsoft MVP AI. I build agent systems — not wrappers around LLMs, but the runtime, policy engine, sandboxing, evals, and context management that decide whether an agent actually works in production.

This year I shipped two open-source projects:

Cogentrex (https://github.com/levalencia/cogentrex) — an agent control plane built from first principles. Deterministic policy engine (allow/ask/deny), Docker sandbox with seccomp, HMAC-signed delegation, 100-scenario eval harness with drift detection, OpenTelemetry tracing. 1,205 tests. I studied 183 harness mechanisms across Claude Code, Codex, Pi, and DeepSeek and implemented 176 of them.

Motes (https://github.com/levalencia/motes) — an open-source personal AI agent platform. 20+ tool integrations, MCP client, human-in-the-loop approval, voice streaming, native iOS app. 243 tests.

At element61 I defined technical direction for 8 enterprise AI platforms — multi-agent orchestrators (OpenAI Agents SDK, Copilot Studio + MCP, Azure AI Foundry Agents), RAG chatbots, document intelligence pipelines, and event-driven quality systems. Reduced API costs by 30% through granular caching. Production observability with OpenTelemetry and KQL log forensics.

I also write about harness engineering: https://python.plainenglish.io/built-an-ai-agent-harness-fro...
Previously: 3 years ML engineering at PwC (PyTorch, MLOps, evals). Author of Master Machine Learning (BPB Publishing).

Looking for: Founding AI Engineer, Senior Agent/Platform Engineer, Staff AI Engineer, or Applied AI roles at product companies. Startups < 200 people preferred. Python-first stacks. Remote EU or Paris. EOR preferred. No consulting, no FDE roles.
