Thank you for putting in words why I struggle with OKLCH. I found it non-intuitive to learn as a human being despite its "gradient" advantage. I still stick to HSL. (Though I wish web had adopted HSB)
Re:Four Months of Zig on Thursday October 29, 2026 @01:59AM (#50285031)
Yes, my bad, replied in a hurry. Technically, the arena size will be function involving both the request body size, the response body size, along with the sizes of any intermediate results of processing.
Re:Four Months of Zig on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @03:21AM (#50270201)
> And how do you size the arena?

All HTTP servers have a configurable maximum request size. Ex: client_max_body_size in Nginx.

Re:Python's experimental JIT to be removed on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @02:46AM (#50269986)
I am confused. Why can't they have an experimental, optionally-enabled feature for a few years while they iron out all the issues ? What is wrong with that ? The JDK keeps doing this all the while. They write a new JEP if there are changes across previews.
Re:Lula wins election after final votes tallied on Sunday October 25, 2026 @09:10PM (#50237793)
It was extremely amusing. Brazilian election law generally sets 5 p.m. Brasília time as the deadline for closing polls. The judge who made the emergency ruling to pause counting and extend voting hours by 2 hours was Cristiano Zanin Martins - Lula's former personal attorney. The same guy who Lula nominated to the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil in June 2023.

Sorry, just don't trust accurate LLM data analysis even from the latest claude model. Have had some embarrassing bloopers over the last year. It is just better to code a deterministic tool to do the data analysis.

Re:What's Getting Pwned on Saturday October 24, 2026 @05:05AM (#50219425)
Seriously - why can't the browsers just natively support a common UI component framework. Its 2026 and they still haven't done it. That old excuse of: webtech needs individual flair and diversity is now a fraudulent argument considering that everyone uses Claude to generate the same look and feel everywhere.

Might as well get it natively supported in the browser.

No, US companies can sue Indian companies. It doesn't need the state department. U.S. companies have sued Indian companies in Indian courts and won rulings or favorable judgments across various commercial, patent, and trademark disputes.

Famous examples include: Samsonite vs. Indian Competitors like VIP - Samsonite won the case.

Novartis vs. Indian Generic Makers. This went all the way to the Indian supreme court before Novartis lost the case. (And thank heavens for that).

Microsoft and Dell: They have won nearly all their cases in India involving unauthorized software and misuse of trademarks.

These are just the big names. There are dozens of smaller US companies.

The USA should formally change its name to CSA (Corporate States of America) or OSA (Oligarchy States of America). A product should advertise its functionality.
Re:The Future of CSS on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @08:18AM (#50179659)
Wow - looks so good in LISP syntax. They could have probably also introduced compute restrictions (Execution Time Cap) by limiting nesting.
How is it "irrelevant" when there was a deal struck but its terms were violated ? Are all Western deals this way ? No wonder Minsk broke down. How is Russia 100% responsible for any ships being sunk in the Black Sea when Ukraine has sunk >100 vessels in the black sea? Try and separate basic logic from partisan emotion please.
What ? No, Starlink is not provided or authorized for use in Russia. Did this change ?
> Yes and putting a CEO of a tech company in command of strategic infrastructure

The U.S. government and the Pentagon own and control Starshield,

But isn't it somewhat realistic ? Once the Democrats take power in the House, they will ramp up the supply of US military aid and possibly force Trump to impose a so-called "no-fly" zone in Ukraine. There are war-hawks on both sides to push for this and they did push for this several times before. That will mean NATO & USAF involvement to enforce air superiority and bombing of Russian missile/drone sites and hence direct military clashes with Russia. It will likely snowball from there.
Technically the EU is buying from India which buys from Russia. Alas prices are still high in India, since the benefit is mainly going to a few billionaires. Our billionaires are even more richer than Chinese ones while our people are poorer.
Well, yes, the deal was supposed un-block its own food and fertilizer exports, but they were still sanctioned. It was idiotic to agree to that deal without first getting the sanctions removed. The UN "committed to help facilitate and remove obstacles to unimpeded global exports of Russian food and fertilizers" - something which never materialized.
> It going cheaper wont make me spend more.

Speak for yourself. The price of electricity immediately & directly effects the setup/operation of small business. I know home businesses (juicing plants) that became non-viable on the basis of electricity alone.

Unfortunately, so do cockroaches.

Re:Deno Is Joining Cloudflare on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @06:31AM (#50069534)
Yes, flutter.dev is owned by Google. You can at-least have reasonable belief in the Android figures even if don't trust the iOS one due to conflict of interest.
Well, the Indian Refinery Billionaires are licking their chops now.

> Everything, literally everything is better than what the Assad regime was. The gruesomeness of Assad and his regime is on a level not seen since 1945

Lolwut ? The Al-Qaeda head-chopper is in a distinct league of his own. He even had a US bounty on him before it was waived away. (US sponsored head-choppers are saintly you see)

He has already massacred thousands of civilians after he declared peace and took power last year. His presidency is Western appointed, not one elected. At the current rate of slaughter, within the next few years, he is going to make Assad like an innocent baby.

After a decade, he will be the next Osama bin Laden for commencing War on Terror 2.0 and his brand revamped into Evil #1 for upcoming generation of brainwashed US citizens.

> He was so angry I didn't pick Dart. Good choice by me in retrospect (though picking Angular 2 over React not so much).

1/3rd of apps on the iOS and Android app store use flutter and that percentage is growing over time. Whereas people are moving away from JS/TS frameworks like React Native.

Trump 2028 amirite ? I couldn't care less how MAGA voters vote and want to ignore their constitution, but why can't your GEOTUS restrict US business to US soil - why screw the whole world ? Just remove your pirate, oil-tanker sinking navy from the middle-east.
Can Claude Code find aliens too ? Maybe Anthropic needs to make a Claude Extraterrestrial Search Product.
> but how much value even is there is the data that a spyware coffee machine could collect about your home? What is the marginal value of that data?

Scale it up - make that millions of homes. Now there is godlike strategic value. Esp when "borrowed" by 3 letter agencies.

> but simply dumping proofs on the math community and expecting others to do the grunt work of verifying, refining, and expanding on them is hardly a productive way to advance the field.

I assume this will increase the job market for mathematicians though right ? Tens of thousands of dumped proofs will mean math majors will need to be hired for review.

Re:Friendship ended with Deno, now Node is my best friend on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @09:01AM (#49992170)
I don't know how people can still be friends with NPM. Just last week:

DirtyBlanket: Fake Express Packages on npm Spread a Linux Worm

https://safedep.io/dirtyblanket-express-impersonation-npm/

Will stick to deno and JSR for my JS needs, thanks. I like secure friends.

I think some standards org needs to define comprehensive agent permissions model first before the OS raises the abstraction to agent level authorization.

Its not Zig. Its codeberg. Codeberg has a strict no-AI policy. Codeberg is ALL about the community and not the lone hacker. I think its a good policy to prevent overload and clearly distinguish project ecosystems from each other.
