I agree. I have an allergy to highly edited podcasts. I got into podcasts to here unfiltered conversations that you wouldn't see on TV or here on radio.

Every time someone mentions Zuck running for president I think of this clip from the code conference where he's asked about privacy and he just about faints. Obviously he has matured since then but I just wonder how he could hold up in a debate.

One interesting aspect with the consolidation of hospitals is that they are generally buying smaller hospitals, it isn't some massive merger which gives them immunity from anti-trust cases.

Medicare is obviously a big part of healthcare, but is this same pay for performance happening with private insurance? How has the consolidation of hospitals impacted this? Has it become harder to negotiate these deals with massive hosptital networks?

What is a good example of pay for performance in healthcare?

I was recently reading "American Sickness" by Elisabeth Rosenthal. She was talking about how an anti-nausea medication was taken off the market for safety issues because it caused heart issues at 50 times the dose usually taken. After doctors were forced to use Zofran instead, which costs at least 20 times more.

Stress and lack of sleep can dramatically raise blood sugar. I don't have diabetes but I check my blood sugar fairly regularly with a $30 glucose monitor. Bad sleep raises my fasting blood sugar to a level I would normally have after a bowl of ice cream.

I wonder how much this has to do with peoples common initial exposure to bad seafood. Good fish doesn't smell fishy and most the fish you get at a supermarket has a strong fishy smell/flavor. You shouldn't be able to smell the fish until you put it up to your nose.

This is a tough topic and a lot of people make very broad generalizations that end up being very disingenuous to people who have ADHD. At the same time 15% of male children have been told they have ADHD while scientists estimate it's more like 3%. On one hand you have the camp that says more kids need treatment, on the other hand people think no one needs it. Just like everything in this polarizing world we need stop joining camps and focus on people who are suffering.

Somalian children living in Minnesota have a higher rate of autism compared to whites and non whites. They have also noticed this in Stockhom as they also have a lot of Somalian immigrants. Researches have found "The increased prevalence remained and was now between four and five times higher in children of Somali background. A clinical observation was that more than 80%, in addition to autism and learning disability, had a profound hyperactivity." http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1469-8749.2010.... People have hypothesized vitamin D could be contributing to this as having darker pigmentation makes it harder to absorb sunlight.
