Re:Austria is sleepwalking toward a far-right victory on Wednesday March 27, 2024 @09:37AM (#39838906)
Austria is So lucky, these corporate fascist leftists need to get their asses beat.
They're incapable of self reflection because the brainwashing is so deep and ingrained from public school to college to corporations, all in the same pipeline that creates mindless drones.

As an ex leftist it's even plainer for me to see the sickness years later after my initial awakening.

Re:Anonymous Tor Phone on Tuesday May 02, 2023 @10:43AM (#35788253)
Haha "Anonymous" to your neighbor maybe, if they don't work for 5Is or a 3 letter agency, or Google, or Facebook, or the ccp or ... tor is compromised, you didn't Not get caught, you're not a target yet.
Re:Philips sets €575M. aside for respirator lawsuits on Monday April 24, 2023 @11:37AM (#35688989)
Hoho buddy this is hacker news, which should be titled, conformist news because people here don't like it when you think for yourself and question authority.

Yes indeed why are other humans who are not smarter or more educated allowed to tell you what you can and can't buy? Commies, they're everywhere and destroying our country. Also just a ton of stupid people in powerful positions, kind of like the moderators on here but smarter.

No I'm not, it's the full model on 8 gpus for a couple hundred. After training I fine tune for chats but mostly command and control tools, and then you fine-tune for application.
Dude why do you guys keep reading this trash company's articles? These corporatists are pay to print. They'll print anything you pay them to.

Stop reading this garbage.

I strongly suggest checking out your weekly media assassination, tune in to the best pod in the universe: No Agenda

https://podcastaddict.com/podcast/4175796

I've been training large 65b models on "rent for N hours" systems for less than 1k per customized model. Then fine tuning those to be whatever I want for even cheaper.

2 months since gpt 4.

This ride has only just started, fasten your whatevers.

This is just push back from elon and crews fake article about the dangers of AI, they specifically state the next versions will be ultra deadly.

Sam is now saying there will be no future model that will be as good.

This is all positioning to get regulators off the track because none of these control freaks in government actually understand a whit of this.

All said and done, this all just to try to disempower the OSS community. But they can't, we're blowing past their barriers like the 90s did with the definition of slippery slope.

Re:I unschool my 5 kids. This is how much it costs on Thursday March 23, 2023 @06:18PM (#35282128)
its another way to say homeschooling, but with an emphasis on what the kid wants to do and not on a govt provided curriculum.
Hahaha "research" what a joke.

They can just call anything research and try to make it fit their opinions... that's liberal "science" for ya.

I can't wait for the paper explaining how feelings are more important that scientific rigor. Oh wait...

He was raised by a single mom.

As a full time single dad of 4 for the past 6 years, this violence from kids raised by single moms is becoming less and less surprising as I meet kids raised by their moms and kids who have intact families or are raised by their fathers.

Re:Ask HN: Why is hiring so dehumanized, and what can be done? on Wednesday February 22, 2023 @03:21PM (#34902047)
Using all of these hiring tools is the issue.

They didn't work 20 years ago, still don't work, however interviewing someone like they're a person, asking questions, finding their passion, that has had 100% return for me and my companies.

Word of mouth has been the best way I've been able to hire a lot of really skilled people. My team members have told me many times that I'm the best manager they've ever had.

It's because I don't do anything the way you're supposed to.

Try being a place worth working for and you'll see skilled people show up, and they know how to get ahold of you since they're highly skilled and motivated.

Re:Learnings from employing ChatGPT as a ML Engineer for a day on Wednesday February 22, 2023 @03:16PM (#34901972)
I use it every day at the f500 I work at. I have gotten my team to adopt it, and it has increased productivity from those who were already productive.

The people who weren't already good can't figure out how to use it properly.

I also see a bunch of people online, most?, using it incorrectly, writing prompts that would give bad info. Maybe they're doing it on purpose?

To those who have everything, more will be given.

Re:Reddit Co-Founder’s Quest for Unseizable Property on Wednesday February 22, 2023 @02:36PM (#34901399)
wonderful response. people forget this is why nothing online is untrackable or free from tracking, its obfuscated, but trackable.

Ultimately the govt has shown that private does not actually mean private. you can build a network, business, or even a country and if someone doesnt like it. buh bye. no questions just consequences.

we need a wireless, encrypted, and secure network, we do not have one yet.

until then this is all make believe fun until someone in government finds out they can make money controlling it. and then it gets real, fast.

I am hiring out of Mexico and India. But mostly Mexico. Lots of software jobs are moving there.
Re:Polygon Labs Cuts 20% Workforce, Almost 100 Jobs on Tuesday February 21, 2023 @06:31PM (#34889287)
How long did they hold it and where, I imagine they made payroll with the returns.
Re:Advanced React component composition on Saturday August 20, 2022 @12:36PM (#32533288)
React didn't come up with anything new, not components or really any of its tooling, it is simply a conglomeration of many tools.
Re:Ask HN: Why is everything changing too fast? on Monday December 06, 2021 @11:52AM (#29462152)
It's "designers" who have no idea what they're doing or asking for and they get power because usually they're the most annoying people in the company, so people just let them do it to shut them up. It's almost a generally applied concept, add a "designer" and suddenly everything is trash.
Re:The Amazon Empire Strikes Back on Monday December 06, 2021 @11:42AM (#29461997)
Memory is short and books/blog posts/videos are written by the winners (like Amazon and Walmart) and people can't see the forest for the trees. You live on your knees and act like sinners. Wake up. Stand up and realize you're not bad, not racist, not gay, not evil, just you, a human. Stop letting people tell you who you are. Then Amazon and Walmart and all these companies can come around and they'll succeed, so far as they can convince you that you're nothing. You are everything all at once, wake up, smell the cosmos.
With "moderators", ie the stalin loving braintrust that is HN, but it's better than Facefuk and Twatter, for now, I said that about twatter though, and I quit that a while back.
Well, then I guess you can be a professional at something and still be unaware of all the tools at your disposal. Also just because you don't know something as a "professional" doesn't mean anything :D it's more like, oh I don't know what that I'd, im gonna go read the docs. But instead, I've never heard of it, its dumb...
Re:Apple broke up with me on Sunday December 05, 2021 @01:26AM (#29447243)
My apple ID is [email protected] and I never give them my card info, never have. I've only been given apple shit, I haxor it and load all the apps I want. I could download any movie or song I want but I don't because I pay a streaming service and wouldn't buy a digital item unless I can download it. I have been in tech a long long time and this was always the way. Somehow people got snowed into thinking they own something on someone else servers ahem serverless which is absolutely not the case. Have you heard possession is 9/10ths of the law and they own your contract, and according to their thousands of lawyers it's Real and ultimately people with guns agree. It's an absolutely retarded position we've put ourselves in, I will enjoy the day apple is forgotten, like Compaq or DEC.
Re:“Coding is basically just ifs and for loops.” on Saturday December 04, 2021 @06:26PM (#29445259)
Become water my friend - don't stick to just one way.
Aww look, a coward.
It's Followers following bro. It's like that Peter pan song. We're following the leader, the leader, the leader, we're following the leader wherever he may go. Do dum, do dee. Anyways. It's a hierarchy of following, I like to imagine a tree list moving together towards the memory collection function and your leader, just an item further up the hierarchy, and your leader is like: Don't worry. Just follow. I won't collect your memory, unless you disagree. Nobody knows though, this mofo can't collect your memory, that's a process, but dude thinks he can tell you the process isn't real, and he's actually the one who controls the garbage process. Everyone gets collected, nobody knows its them until it is. The thing your group is running from is still coming, it's catching the slow ones first, but it will catch you all, and you're being sold the idea that it can be staved off, but really, You just never see it coming.
Re:Blender 3.0 on Friday December 03, 2021 @10:20AM (#29430991)
Yay, this is gonna be sweeeet. I have a render going now on 2.9 and it's so cool. I've been using blender for years and years now, just for fun and in the winters I use it to keep my room warm and my renders 4k baby.
Hey another brain user, so nice to see others with braincells that function. One day you might even get voted down to the cool kids table, but you have to tell a bunch of helpless nerds with no life experience how the world works as they cower under their desks and click the down button until the bad man can't be seen.
Of course the most scared conformist is at the top. You have no idea what you're talking about. I'm sus that you've even lived in Japan for any amount of time. Also masks don't work, living in another country isn't proof, it just means that Japanese are super conformist. Duh.
If masks were effective against a virus just show proof. It should be super easy to do. But they won't because They can't. Because if you have two braincells to click together it doesn't make sense. It makes sense to Reduce transmission, but there's No proof that happens, and if there were we'd all know by now. So if you're sneezing or coughing, dont leave the house, you should stay home and our government would support that if they cared, but you have to go to work with a mask, even if you're not sick, it's retarded and just makes people more conformist or picks out the non conformists. If you like other countries that have no choice but to do stupid things like everyone else (ahem, Japan) well you can't move there permanently because they're super super racist, but nobody cares, but go live there for a bit, it sucks, it's extremely conformist and lacks all freedom of individuality, that's why GI's almost always come back after a few years. Think for yourself, question authority.
