News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

At this point US is a bigger security concern than China.
Just the deaths of hundreds of thousands, nothing to see here.
Many of the Nazis didn't kill people themselves, they just helped in the process.

State sponsored sabotage.
Even if that would be true, turning off these systems would just kill more of the people.

Almost like he's the elite he's complaining about.

Always projection.

... Because they've been less open from the start?
Your comparison only makes sense if you also consider how many requests are being made.

The "only the biggest thing matters" is a faulty logic. If you truly care about the environment then we need to improve things across the board.

And moralizing about living beings doesn't help your cause here.

I'd say this is even more an Asian thing? Or maybe I'm just extrapolating from my visits in Japan and Malaysia.

That's not an absolute rule, of course...
> Something is really, really wrong in Europe. There will be books written about this in the future.

Replace Europe with the US and the statement holds just as well. Or China or why not Russia.

We live in bad times.

No need for dirt. Putin simply funnels money to Trump and that's enough.
Knowing Musk, they probably purged pro Democrats while leaving Russian bots alone.
They were out of diesel before Trump's announcement.

Complaining about an information bubble while being in one is pretty funny.
How do you automate clothing too? My whole family always glance at the temperature and weather on the dashboard before we go out.

Do you automate music selection too? My music taste is very different depending on mood, not to mention my kids.

Or cameras?

I also automate lights but it's pretty nice to be able to control them manually too. Or just pause automations during winter/summer.

Granted I don't use a layout like OP but still.

I've been meaning to do the same one day but the time/energy just hasn't been available.

Maybe I should throw some agents at it and then maybe I can stop thinking about it?

SEEKING WORK | Sweden (CET) | Remote only

Recently I've modernized legacy PHP and Python services, migrated a large application from MySQL to PostgreSQL, and building a shift scheduler using a constraint solver.

I've been programming for 20+ years across many languages and domains. I prefer Rust and Elixir but I try to use whatever suits the problem best.

To see how I approach problems and how I communicate, read my blog, which I've kept since 2010: https://www.jonashietala.se/

Same, Obtanium is great.
Grim Fandango is arguably in the running for the title too.
Everything in Sweden I've tried works.

Yikes.

As a Swede I have a bunch of grievances with the EU but when I look at the US I can't help but feel how lucky I am to live on this side of the pond.

I used to have this issue as the package in AUR had some issues but they should be resolved now?
That's the point of GrapheneOS. They've been excellent at providing fast updates and long-term support for their supported devices.

Let Motorola do the hardware and GrapheneOS the software.

I quite like The Cult of Trump due to the relevance to current events.
Re:GrapheneOS in 2027 available on high-end Motorola phones on Wednesday August 19, 2026 @02:32PM (#49365392)
That's really unfortunate. Revolut has luckily been working well for me but time will tell...

It's also a useful signal in the age of LLMs. A bit of hoops to jump through before a PR can now be seen as a good thing.
Re:Pixel Watch 5 on Thursday August 13, 2026 @12:12AM (#49281728)
Pebble's custom applications is far better than Google or Apple. It's much more hackable.

The other features are indeed worse or missing.

Re:AI is removing the middle class of software engineering on Wednesday August 12, 2026 @04:59PM (#49278467)
It would be funny but sadly our CEO is also vibe coding all days (with AI I have so much free time!), forcing everyone in the company to use his vibe coded product.

Oh and he's altering course from the previous "AI only where it makes sense" to "everyone should code, even the sellers" and "AI is not optional, we're an AI first company".

Talk about drinking the Kool-Aid...
