latenightcoding

he has like 20 AI companies now.
Can't even ctrl+f the conversation, wish openai would fix that
I skimmed through it, what makes you think it is slop?
Re:LuaJIT 3.0 proposed syntax extensions on Wednesday June 24, 2026 @10:22PM (#48668067)
not even close, because there are a lot of places where you can't run LuaJIT

>> Gen AI ARchive

isn't this a nightmare for privacy

Re:What did you love about VB6? on Friday May 01, 2026 @08:42PM (#47982147)
building a UI was so easy.
>> Go create value for others and don’t worry about the returns.

This is just so disconnected with reality. Any new worthwhile project will take few months of full-time work minimum, how many people can invest few months of unpaid full-time work with no guarantees of success. and that's not even considering the amount of time it takes to acquire the necessary skills.

Re:Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (March 2026) on Monday March 09, 2026 @01:22PM (#47312124)
what filters are you using to find the papers, anyone you enjoyed/recommend?
and they only got really good like last December.
Re:Learning Lean: Part 1 on Wednesday February 18, 2026 @04:06PM (#47066396)
I never hijack non-ai threads to talk about AI, but can anybody share their experience using LLMs to code in Coq, Lean, etc.
Re:We rendered and embedded one million CAD files on Wednesday February 11, 2026 @03:32PM (#46980501)
Nice idea but the search is pretty bad, try anything: Cup, forks, house, etc. It all fails.
Re:Stories from 25 Years of Software Development on Saturday February 07, 2026 @04:12PM (#46928084)
working in software before LLMs, you had to be there.
Re:Fabrice Bellard: Biography [pdf] on Wednesday December 24, 2025 @02:58PM (#46378684)
What I wonder is: are current LLMs even good for the type of work he does: novel, low-level, extremely performant
totally forgot about Magic Leap
when the core devs lose money, the rules change.
Re:Scaling HNSWs on Tuesday November 11, 2025 @03:30PM (#45892435)
>> More hands is usually better than simpler systems for reasons that have nothing to do with technical proficiency.

If you are working on open source databases, or something close to the metal I agree with antirez, if you are working at some established tech business (e.g: a very old ecommerce site), I agree with you

Re:AI scrapers request commented scripts on Friday October 31, 2025 @02:09PM (#45774927)
when I used to crawl the web, battle tested Perl regexes were more reliable than anything else, commented urls would have been added to my queue.
Re:Wikipedia as a Graph on Friday August 29, 2025 @02:26PM (#45067694)
Very cool concept, but it doesn't work too well.
Re:Coding with LLMs in the summer of 2025 (an update) on Sunday July 20, 2025 @03:49PM (#44628680)
not a single mention of ChatGPT in the comment section. Are Gemini Pro and Claude Opus that much better than plain old chatgpt (free version)
Re:KDB-X: KX releases FREE Commercial KDB license on Wednesday July 16, 2025 @01:57PM (#44585105)
With the rise of LLM-coding do these specialized/niche languages lose their edge? (i.e: prototyping speed, job security, etc)
Re:Not So Fast: AI Coding Tools Can Reduce Productivity on Thursday July 10, 2025 @08:06PM (#44527086)
LLMs make me 10-20x more productive in frontend work which I barely do. But when it comes to low-level stuff (C/C++) I personally don't find it too useful. it just replaces my need to search stackoverflow.
It's crazy this app has barely changed in like a decade, they even went public but the learning experience is just worse
It is in some projects, OP gave a good example: hedge funds.
pandas has been around for years and never tried to sell me a service.
Re:Time Warp: Delayed-choice quantum erasure on Thursday February 27, 2025 @01:30PM (#43197032)
To be fair, almost everything in quantum is poorly named. That's how they attract funding.
Re:AI companies cause most of traffic on forums on Monday December 30, 2024 @12:29PM (#42551400)
some of these companies are straight up inept. Not an AI company but "babbar.tech" was DDOSing my site, I blocked them and they still re-visit thousands of pages every other day even if it just returns a 404 for them.
Re:Translating 10M lines of Java to Kotlin on Saturday December 21, 2024 @07:19PM (#42483436)
> we decided that the only way to leverage the full value of Kotlin was to go all in on conversion

Could someone expand on this please.

Re:BlenderGPT on Thursday December 12, 2024 @01:41PM (#42401974)
Nah, this shouldn't be on the front page. Blender is a registered trademark (I only clicked because I thought it was project from the Blender team) and OP is not transparent about this just being a wrapper.
Re:Zapata AI Ceases Operations on Tuesday October 15, 2024 @12:24AM (#41844923)
This company was always a grift. I dont beleive university professors should be allowed to run startups while they are still teaching.
Ahh just when founders had finally stopped pitching their startups as "the uber for X" now we get "Cursor for X"
