Freedom of speech is not absolute anywhere, not even under the 1st amendment in the USA.

Death threats are illegal whether they happen offline or online.

Yelling "I HAVE A BOMB!" in an airport comes with consequences.

I believe we can agree on these two examples.

"What is illegal offline should be illegal online: Council agrees position on the Digital Services Act"

https://www.consilium.europa.eu/en/press/press-releases/2021...

I believe you are referring to UK examples, which are not representative for Europe or covered under the DSA.

The overall message still applies; harassment and death threats are no less legal and no more legal because they happen online.

Or Notepad, for a change!
Re:183M Gmail Passwords Leaked on Tuesday October 28, 2025 @04:41AM (#45730453)
The title of the article makes it clear that these are not 183M Gmail passwords, but that Gmail passwords are a part of the leak.

"Gmail Passwords Confirmed As Part Of 183 Million Account Data Leak"

Re:Danish supermarket chain is setting up "Emergency Stores" on Thursday September 11, 2025 @07:12PM (#45217052)
These stores are not supposed to prepare you for three days of resilience in advance.

They are meant to be available as reliable and functioning stores throughout a crisis period. Your go-to destination for purchasing vital goods during the crisis.

There is also no reason to believe that the fertility rates would go to zero. To an outside observer, we might simply be reaching a new equilibrium.

The idealized Star Trek society of production automation and exploratory self fulfillment might only be possible, and sustainable, if we are a billion people.

That is still plenty enough people to continue our ever accelerating and vast exploration of culture, science and space.

War Games used a Dataphon s21d, iirc.

I had one for my C-64.

Re:Density.io on Wednesday February 26, 2014 @01:59PM (#7306819)
How about an app for rooted Android phones?

'Click here to transmit 802.11* broadcasts with randomized MAC'

I should have clarified then. I turned down 80k EUR offers, so 70k EUR is definitely not the final stop in Berlin.
90k USD ist just shy of 66k Euro, which is by no means unheard of for an experienced developer.

I know personal anecdotes doesn't count for much, but I turned down several 80k offers in Berlin. I would expect salaries in Munich to be 10-15% higher due to cost of living.

Re:Network Solutions Auto-Enroll: $1,850 on Wednesday January 22, 2014 @06:10AM (#7101940)
It is also most definitely illegal here in Denmark, and probably a whole host of other countries.
Re:Douglas Adams' 61st birthday doodle by Google on Monday March 11, 2013 @05:08AM (#5355619)
I really liked this, except the fact that - for me - it was translated into Danish.

I have only read Douglas' works in English, and the phrase is "Don't Panic" - it's not "Undgå Panik", which is a lousy translation that literally means Avoid Panic.

Sometimes this geolocalization goes too far.

Re:How Lisp is Going to Save the World on Wednesday January 09, 2013 @06:12AM (#5031039)
And robustness is often the static plastic bubble that hides in itself, never accomplishing much in the real world.

State is too often the real world.

Mind you, I like robustness. It's like the cinder blocks I use to build my house, each robust and contained in itself. I just can't disregard state when stacking my cinder blocks on top of each other; the flexing and distribution of load is an emergent state that I have to consider when building each cinder block.

Re:$21,243 in 8 Days: Why AppSumo is Going to Keep Crushing It on Thursday August 30, 2012 @03:53PM (#4456421)
I feel the same.

I got more information about AppSumo from their Google search excerpt than from their website.

Browser crash?

Better fire up IDA!

Magnet links are just a shortcut for getting the .torrent file, everything else still applies.
Re:Javascript Screens on Thursday May 24, 2012 @07:48AM (#4017886)
It sounds decent, but how about some examples?
Re:Ruby 1.9 lands NaCl support, can run in Chrome on Friday May 18, 2012 @06:58AM (#3991219)
I have written a lot of JS since my humble beginnings in 1997 where I wrote an "ajax" chat system running down to Netscape 2 and IE3.

There's no point in dismissing JS due to simple lexical issues; those have in no way prevented us from maturing the language use through idioms, patterns, tools and collective knowledge.

JS is more than good enough as a basis for CoffeeScript and Emscripten - so why should we care whether scope context or a lack of block scope can be initially confusing?

25,000 might sound like a lot of visits, but I have been beyond that in mere hours with a single slashdotting.

Well, that was in 2004 when /. was big. Today, I would fear the Reddit frontpage.

The next step up? Going from $29/mo. to $99/mo.

I might just not be their target customer.

We definitely agree there.

Uncommon phrases are not that difficult to think of though; my own example is the only hit on google for that phrase.

That specific example might be flawed, but the principle is sound; a keyphrase is easy to remember and has plenty of entropy.

"I used to smoke Kings cigarettes under the bridge" suits me a lot better than "3D5g!§x&".

This sounds extremely annoying.
Oh please, here in Denmark we blew glass on a school trip in 6th grade after a 5 minute introduction.
