Re:Ask HN: How are you using LLMs in production? on Friday April 17, 2026 @08:57PM (#47812252)
currently working on a sales presentation generator.

it is provided curated research and its goal is to make a compelling sales deck someone can present. current feedback is its better than our old version.

there's a master agent that have 8 sub agents it can run as tools. it can run them up to 65 times. its been really fun playing with the agents as tools.

I was extremely excited when I seen the critic agent provided a critique->main agent called -> story written for slide x -> creative writter for slide -> then critic again to verify.

Re:Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (December 2025) on Sunday December 14, 2025 @03:28PM (#46266534)
just finished a organization project for my wife.

its a web app where you make boxes, add images or text of what's in the box. then get a qr code that you can tape to the box and scan to see the text or images in the web app.

hoping to make it a lot easier to look for things in the storage unit. instead of removing all the totes and looking in them. Just scan and see if the description fits what I'm looking for

Re:Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (December 2025) on Tuesday December 02, 2025 @09:31PM (#46129602)
Seeking work | full stack php developer. (Current focus is on agentifying workflows and ai video for advertisers)

Have experience with python/Django/java(old spring boot). But the majority has been with laravel.

Most front end experience is with vuejs and angular.

About me: I have roughly 10 years of experience as a full stack developer. Outside of this i have 3 years of experience teaching at coding boot camps and adjuncting at a local college.

I absolutely love build tools and sites that people enjoy using. I always joke that I design functional potatoes. But that doesn't mean I can't make something pretty. Lol

At my current place of employment I have taken the place of the go to guy for llms and agents. I frequently spend time learning how they work and going over research papers. Currently I'm working on automating video creation for advertisers.

Some key accomplishments over that last two years are: complete overhaul and redesign of a front end, automated 25% of all requests for a specific workflow (final output is on par with human output), fully automated process that required user approval before being sent out.

Location: est, usa Remote only Available full or part time.

I actually got a laptop from sager (clevo) and after 5 years of heavy use. my biggest complaint is the dam case. all the plastic clips broke. only a few screws holding it together. lots of gaps now. and a few cracks in the plastic.

but it's been thrown in a back pack and gone through several years of traveling in a back pack

Re:Ask HN: What does your WFH day/routine looks like? on Monday January 23, 2023 @07:58PM (#34497562)

Re:Winter & Cold Weather EV Range Loss in 7,000 Cars on Sunday December 18, 2022 @11:47AM (#34039472)
cold batts always get worse range got to plug it in and have a batt warmer (like Tesla).

not such a foreign idea when you have to do that for Diesel to get them to start in the cold.

Re:Disney has more streaming customers than Netflix on Tuesday November 08, 2022 @08:17PM (#33526486)
idk about you but I know of atleast 15 gems made by Netflix. but majority are cartoons.

15 is nothing tho compared to all of their flops.

if anyone likes cartoons checkout: centaurworld - awesome wrap up on the last episode dogs in space Maya and the three dead end Cuphead over the moon Klaus

Re:Ask HN: Have you ever experienced eBay refusing to pay you on Friday November 04, 2022 @08:36PM (#33476266)
their refund process is a scam for sellers too. just had someone get a refund (even tho I don't do returns) claiming the item doesn't work.

I tested it and it works fine. never said in the post it was fully tested. buyer even modified the item. ebay just happily gave them their money and forced me to accept the return and refund

I always recommend a easy to remember sentence as a password.

with spaces, punctuation, some sort of capilatiozation scheme (cap every last letter, or every other ,etc) and throw a number in there.

lot easier to remember than 32 random bits.

purposely misspelling something, adding spaces, and your own cap scheme make it a secure password.

Re:DJI Drone Flies over the Top of Mount Everest on Wednesday August 31, 2022 @10:42AM (#32662653)
you can do this with a custom built drone too for under $400 for just the drone. large props, high kv motors and your good to go. Mr Steele was flying at one of the everest base camps not long ago
Re:Ask HN: What podcasts are you listening to? on Saturday August 13, 2022 @09:20PM (#32455430)

Re:Ask HN: What podcasts are you listening to? on Saturday August 13, 2022 @05:41PM (#32454068)
no sleep podcast the lucky die dark dice gray rooms stuff you should know white vault this week in tech
boot camp grads have a small amount of knowledge in the entire stack. most who come out have 0 understanding of how the stack works, how to optimize, how to keep it secure.

if your willing to train them it's great as they have some knowledge. you should be able to get them quite cheap too. as most struggle to find anything.

Re:Snap launches its first drone on Thursday April 28, 2022 @03:28PM (#31197103)
I fly FPV drones, I have one very similar to that size. running a 1s 300mah lihv I get about 3 to 5 minutes. 5 minutes damages the battery. but the tiny lihv never liv long enough anyways.

I'd expect it to get close to that time, but it has so much more plastic around it. but then again it's not transmitting video.

Re:Ask HN: Share your personal site on Wednesday April 06, 2022 @02:32PM (#30935777)
michaellapan.com just redid it with vuepress, going to try and commit to blogging... again lol
iirc we are paying 280ish a month for 3 phones. I think 2 are fully paid off.

with "unlimited data" that is capped at 15g. unfortunately it's the only provider that works where we live in Michigan

why would I pay for builds when its free to use my cpu? any company worth somthing is going to give you a decent machine. if you don't have a decent machine you wouldn't have the $$ to pay for remote builds. I could see a use case for very large projects.

most stores in my town (pop 500, US, mi) still take personal checks. mag reader is needed for fuel pump. a few times needed in store when ship reader wasn't working.
theirs almost no focus either. html, css, js, react, mysql, Mongo, various apis, jquery, and there's more. I'd be surprised if any were hirable after the class
I have a friend who works for 2u. the bootcamps just pump out bad devs. everything is taught way to fast, everything is glossed over, they are expected to learn the majority on the own
Re:Pest Control Suggestions for Your Apartment on Monday June 28, 2021 @10:17AM (#27662291)
where I live we get tons of pests regardless of how much cleaning we do (keep a pretty clean house).

but living next to a small lake in the country side has some downsides. silverfish everywhere and tons of spiders.

OUYA was a good idea until no new games.. lol if I could get the play store on jt I'd be using mine to play games
I'm planning on closing mine. only reason I kept mine was taxs were just filed and I was just in the start of a job change. there's no way I'd stay with their fee structure
