Help others !!
So HOLD! Specially if you are young,
In your very long forthcoming career you will find very few moments of clarity. Take it from a veteran of this industry - take it easy , have fun , keep the focus on being productive and objective. You cannot control much more than that and there are always many forces at work which you might not even have an idea about. So relax and don’t take it too personally. Good luck!

Re:The absurdity of renting a car will no longer be tolerated on Sunday December 26, 2021 @10:50PM (#29698935)
Well that opens up a niche to actually start a rental car business called “Real Reservations” and charge extra for actually reserving the car the customer is willing to pay extra premium for.

It’s just about making the APIs public isn’t it? Data producers today follow AuthN protocols to update a database. An API makes it public or private(apikey). Where and how cryptocurrency/blockchain is useful in this use case . I just don’t understand.
Re:Alien Mathematics on Saturday December 04, 2021 @05:21PM (#29444839)
From the article -

“ The double pendulum has the special property that very small changes in initial conditions result in very large changes in eventual outcome. And that means small approximation errors compound much faster than we can deal with them - the system diverges**.”

- isn’t this just a problem of lack of computing power rather than weakness of the equations themselves. Imagine that there one unit change in the source results in a 1000 new combination , but having computing power that can scale horizontally can solve it. I am aware that current computing power (even in the cloud) is limited , but in future we may have quantum computing or something similar that can accommodate modeling these kind of divergence problems.

The sum is greater than parts
Re:100 years of whatever this will be on Thursday December 02, 2021 @05:39PM (#29423823)
The real problem is not the technology but the mindset. Simply follow the twin principle of live and let live AND do no harm to others. Have a moral compass. You don’t need to be religious or even spiritual for this. Just understand that this is best for you in the long run.
FWIW it is eye opening to read about the close similarity in effects of Hindu chanting (mantras) with modern day programming . Hindu mythology describes and still believes in how certain incantation produces certain results. And they are believed to this day by many Hindus.

Why do someone need to move to SFO in the first place? Jobs are plentiful nowadays everywhere. So it’s not that for tech jobs one need to move to SFO. Yes one may want to live in Hong Kong , Singapore , Dubai , Mumbai , Paris or SFO but like all over the world certain places have higher per square foot cost than other places.

Why should the burden be on common people ? It’s the government and policy makers job to enforce the law and make appropriate policies and legislation. Common people pay taxes (a lot of it) for them to do their job. Why do commoners have to wade into politics and then get exploited by the politicians to fight brother against brothers?
