Re:Uv's killer feature is pulling in local dependencies on Sunday January 12, 2025 @11:16PM (#42680026)
Docker will make it work, but is a heavy solution as it will happily take up GB of your disk. uv is a more efficient and elegant option.

Rust code apps are super fast on my linux laptop from 10 years ago too.
I for one want to hear all sides (there can be more than two sides) of a polemic. I challenge myself to determine the best possible arguments in support of each side, even those with which I disagree.
Re:I am rich and have no idea what to do on Friday January 03, 2025 @10:31PM (#42592124)
not rich and not lonely and I would learn something new every day if I could. Learn to be rich in ideas. If you already are, write them down and share them with the world. Or study an ancient civilization. Or learn to fly a plane. learn something that is difficult for you to learn. There are so many things to study and learn and teach.

It can't happen too soon. When/if it does happen I will need to unblock the 1000 numbers that called me repeatedly. At one point, I wanted to block the entire 202 area code. A feature I would have appreciated would have been to have the ability to figure out which block of numbers were allocated to that provider, and then block all the numbers allocated to that provider

No. Elon is a guy who will himself sleep on the factory floor to get something done. He is the guy who famously said "when you're going through hell, keep going". He is the guy who bet his entire fortune on electric cars and rockets when no one thought that was a bright idea.

Shouldn't Qdrant be on that list in 2025?
Re:FireDucks: Pandas but 100x Faster on Wednesday November 20, 2024 @02:19PM (#42197192)
Agree with this. My favorite syntax is the elegance of data.table API in R. This should be possible in Python too someday.

I think there exist github repos where the code in the book has been translated to python.

People had a "little black book" with phone numbers of romantic interests. club and bar bathrooms had phone numbers etched into the stalls. Songs about fake phone numbers ruled the day like 867-5309/Jenny
