Waking up everyday and drinking monster energy drink followed by Diet Coke in theory should have some effect on your brain. Does abstaining from them have any effect on your HRT?
I fear that might be true for majority of humans.

My problem with these immersed people of this world is that it’s like being residents of a terrarium, entirely at the mercy of the Lord to keep the A/C on. We need few people to wonder what is out there - who is maintaining the terrarium temperature?

I learnt it the hard way that not everyone appreciates the beauty of our cosmic insignificance. Most people are fully immersed in this tiny world we built and I sometimes envy them.
Re:Ask HN: What are you working on? (April 2025) on Monday April 28, 2025 @12:06PM (#43823007)
I’m working on a web based note taking app that is open source and lets you own the notes in your file system - https://bangle.io
If some of you want to try out a fully web based approach to markdown editing checkout https://bangle.io

It's human nature to feel good about themselves by doing certain "altruistic" things. Make no mistake the donor benefits more than the recipient.

A powerful state management library that is not dependent on your ui framework https://nalanda.bangle.io/
Re:Notion experiencing issues (over 6 hours) on Monday October 02, 2023 @05:01PM (#37744344)
I am also working on something similar and open source Bangle.io . It allows you to open a local folder and persist your markdown notes there.

It also supports syncing directly with your GitHub repositories.

Re:Are Any Words the Same in All Languages? on Friday September 08, 2023 @12:02AM (#37429139)
The article incorrectly states orange is derived from the Sanskrit word Narang नारङ्ग, but this word itself is a loan word from proto Dravidian (ancestor of Tamil) நாரம் (nāram)

In Hindi we only call the crystallized version chini possibly due to Chinese figuring out the crystallization process. The crude version is called Shakar in Hindi.
Re:Aspartame is set to be declared a possible carcinogen on Thursday June 29, 2023 @01:51PM (#36524052)
You are making it sound like alcohol - where the warning is no amount of alcohol is safe.

Sugar is a naturally occurring substance and is totally safe for consumption. However, purified added sugar is bad for you because in nature you cannot find a fruit that contains that many sugars per gram.

Re:TypeScript 5.2's New Keyword: 'using' on Monday June 19, 2023 @12:16PM (#36392782)
By abstracting away the countless ways a function can handle cleanups, you are providing a single, uniform interface that anyone can implement. This concept is akin to the usage of `.then`, where you agree upon an interface that allows people to execute asynchronous work. The syntax sugar of async/await relies on the existence of a `then` key, demonstrating similar concept.

You are quite wrong to think they are panicking. I can assure you they planned and anticipated for a backlash of this proportion. And also came to the conclusion this will be worth it.
Re:Addressing the community about changes to our API on Friday June 09, 2023 @08:12PM (#36266108)
It’s because they have hired a bunch of people whose job is to do the PR.

Just like if you ask a surgeon for opinion his opinion will lean towards surgery, because that’s what he knows.

Re:Ask HN: What Are You Working on This Year? on Monday January 02, 2023 @11:52PM (#34227814)
Adding to the list of note taking apps, I’m working on an open source local note taking app that works in a browser called bangle.io [1]. It provides a rich WYSIWYG interface, allows syncing with GitHub without any backend and I love working on it .

We want to build our heroes and feel good about ourselves at the end of the day.
Another similar tool that is open sourced and allows you to sync with GitHub [1] .

It differs by providing a WYSIWYG interface while saving content in Markdown.

Life is quite the opposite it decreases entropy inside of itself.

Re:Hello on Monday November 07, 2022 @12:47PM (#33509303)
Hello other text based beings!

I am very passionate about journaling/collecting one’s thoughts. In a typical HN fashion, I decided to make a tool that scratches my itch [1].

Having spent majority of my life with portable computers around, I feel we as humans are losing the joy of writing one’s thoughts out. Sometimes the best thing is to write your thought and establish this one way temporal connection to your future self. This is so beautiful because it crosses the barriers of time, culture and location. An alien human descendant billions of years in future might be able to connect with me by reading my thoughts. Writing is an intellectual marvel that has no other equivalent

Women tend to date up is somewhat similar to how fertilisation of egg is selective with the millions of sperms wanting to fertilise it.

When there is a disproportionate number of males competing for chance at mating, females become very selective. I guess the apps are just going with the data.

Re:India is almost 80% IPv6 on Sunday September 11, 2022 @10:01PM (#32805167)
This is mostly mobile users driving the numbers, majority of the fixed line ISPs still only offer IPv4. Source - https://stats.labs.apnic.net/ipv6/IN
Re:Korean nuclear fusion reactor achieves 100M°C for 30 seconds on Wednesday September 07, 2022 @07:29PM (#32758697)
Does anyone know how do scientists measure such high temperatures?

I doubt a regular thermometer will scale at such levels.

No matter how you put it, paying a subscription fees to a private company to access basic emergency services is unethical.

There is a reason 911 works even if you donot have a SIM card.

I am not asking Apple to do any better, but this a place where government needs to step in and form some regulations.

Check list for a car crash in 2022:

- have the latest and greatest iPhone

- crash only in apple approved countries, because apparently car crashes are specific to countries.

- improve your crash experience by buying an Apple Watch ultra for better detection.

— pray to Tim Apple that the algorithm detects your crash.
