They are nothing of the sort.
They are, at most, and even this is overly generous, someone commissioning a "fake artist" (AI) to make something for them
Just because a few techy or aware people use Kagi (or another alternative), is still a drop in the bucket of overall search engine choice
Google search is still widely dominant, as much as we might not want it to be.
I have found some hardware seems to have weird issues with drives of a certain size (I tried using a 256GB external SSD and have encountered a laptop that will not boot from it, and will only boot from USB storage if it's like 32GB or lower or something weird like that). But that appears to be a particular quirk of that laptop and nothing to do with Ventoy in particular.
Curious if quercetin(+alcohol, specifically in the forms found in those beverages) in-fact is a culprit, since cider also has quercetin in it.
I pay for YT Premium because right now it's worth it- it and Twitch (I use Turbo) are both essentially my only video entertainment (instead of paying far more for cable or something- I don't watch regular TV shows or movies anyway).
I would rather a service cease to exist, require a subscription, than view ads. My attention is not for sale to the lowest bidder.
Yes, I understand that some of what survives on the web today is because it has been ad supported- and that it's one way we have democratized / made content available to the masses, including those that can't afford to pay- I just think we'd find another way if ads went away and it's sad that advertising ever was allowed to have the foothold it has today and become the industry it is. Its very existence is repugnant.
They're going to have to screw over creators bad enough for creators to move elsewhere before there's any remotely significant change in critical mass
I think whether or not people always encounter it "feeling slow" is a different concern as to whether or not 8GB of RAM should ever even be offered by Apple on a system that will for sure eventually swap to disk for users. Adding Apple's huge margins on RAM upgrades on top of this just makes it even more disgusting... they should start their models at a higher baseline- it costs them next to nothing (8GB RAM vs 16GB RAM is not a cost-to-Apple issue, it's an extremely cheap component), but then of course they can't squeeze customers for ludicrous amounts of upsell margins (their cost-to-consumer RAM upgrade margins are absolutely appalling)
Selling suboptimal hardware configurations might be a good business decision but I wish our standards weren't so low for companies, especially ones selling $1600 machines with 2013-amounts of RAM in them
But over time I've come to realize that is only one very specific form of 'homeschooling' that is nothing like other forms
User agency should be prioritized over all other concerns.
and it seems to be working fine?

Direct whitepaper link (warning: PDF): http://www.emcesd.com/pdf/eos93.pdf - if people prefer to search themselves and not use my direct PDF link - it is entitled "A New Type of Furniture ESD and Its Implications" by Douglas C. Smith, from 1993
I'll come back later when at home and post the rules I currently use as I've had to manually block other things (new carousels showing up in recommended, etc)
A DisplayLink KB article even mentions it (and the associated white paper about the issue), stating:
Surprisingly, we have also seen this issue connected to gas lift office chairs. When people stand or sit on gas lift chairs, they can generate an EMI spike which is picked up on the video cables, causing a loss of sync. If you have users complaining about displays randomly flickering it could actually be connected to people sitting on gas lift chairs. Again swapping video cables, especially for ones with magnetic ferrite ring on the cable, can eliminate this problem. There is even a white paper about this issue.
The ability to essentially "weight" particular domains (pin, block, or anywhere in between) has saved me so much time. There are certain searches I do (music-related in particular) where I always want particular sites (metal-archives, bandcamp, etc) to be the first results, and having that as an option is great. It means that searches that I perform often have a result within the first 1-5 results that is exactly what I want.
No ads, way less SEO spam, and the ability to completely remove domains from results if I think I need to tweak it further. For most of my searches I previously used Google for- Kagi makes Google's results look laughably bad.
I've also been using it at work for tech searches (linux, redhat, etc) and it has saved me time there too.
I use a "family" account- and have one work account and one home account that way I can have different settings for different environments (would be neat if this could be built into non-family accounts though... like "personas" or "profiles" or something...) because I'm overpaying a bit to have the two account setup and don't reach the search cap. I think I'm okay with that though, because having the cap so high means I've removed the "running out of searches" anxiety from my usage of the service.
Also, paying monthly is only more expensive if the person paying decides to stay that long. Monthly payments allow flexibility to cancel rather than committing to a year.
If the target of the song didn't change from an actual source of problems (the rich/economic elite) to conservative scapegoats (other poor/working class people) it would have resonated far more with me and actually could have been a song that might have had a chance of finding more common ground between people that typically disagree vehemently.
It's no surprise the entire song resonated with a lot of people, plenty of which I'm sure, as they always have, are okay allowing the the "rich men north of richmond" to turn them against themselves and others like them with that scapegoating
If a driver like that is available for your model it could be a way to revive it.
I'm sure OP is glad that Mozilla takes a negative position on WEI, but when they take other positions simultaneously that seem to counter their WEI positioning, that is a legitimate criticism. I share in that view.
I'm glad to see Mozilla push back in a case like this, but they need to do more, and more consistently so.
I enjoy the command line plenty but when I just want small single-purpose low-power devices to have an OS, DietPi makes it a breeze
Also not yet having support (though I know it's coming) for storing a couple of credit cards meant that I still prefer alternatives like Bitwarden or 1P and won't be switching to Proton Pass anytime soon.
