Maybe they are willing to break the NDA and they're just trying to go this route first. Even if they aren't, it's human nature to act in your own self interest. It might actually be that serious but no one has the guts to lose their career over it.

They likely signed non-disclosure agreements, breaking one of those could be a career-ender.

So they do. Also they mention in the golang-announce bulletin that MPTCP might not even be required for exploitation, it's just that the PoC requires MPTCP.

I mean.. how many people are using multipath on Ubuntu? This is a big issue for datacenter systems that are using fancy networking features that Ubuntu users probably aren't.

Sounds like the kind of thing that could have just been an accident and your father assumed that it was intentional. Organizations aren't perfect, for example the police lost photos they took of my face after my attack.. I could have made assumptions about that, but it was probably just an accident.

Do you have an example? By the way, I've heard a lot of people badmouth lawyers too.. I feel like that sort of character analysis is not always as accurate as you might think.

I disagree. What should have been a 20 year sentence for my attacker turned into a 5 year sentence. I'm thankful that the judge threw everything else they possibly could (like 30 years of parole). Having personal experience with police, I truly believe that they are (in most cases) just doing whatever they can to make things right. What makes you think otherwise?

I mean, this was at least 15 years ago.. so it might be a different story. But when the game is throw everything at the wall and see what sticks, I imagine they're still going after whatever targets they can find.

I feel like you guys think that real justice actually exists. The guy who abducted me is behind bars right now, but there were 4 felonies that we let slide because we would have needed to go to trial and it was just my word against his. Cops see that sort of thing happen all day long, so when they see some rapist getting off easy.. of course they are going to wipe that guys phone unless there's a clear reason not to. I frankly don't see the problem.

They probably are. I used to write software for a financial institution and we saw a lot of traffic from Chinese and Russian IP's hitting our firewalls constantly (ssh login attempts with typical default passwords, random wordpress exploits, that sorta thing). It wasn't very sophisticated so I don't think it was state sponsored or anything, probably just random cyber criminals trying to hit US targets because their governments wouldn't care.

Well another response from a victims perspective: life is hard. He didn't have to break the law, hurting someone in the process. He can deal with the consequences, because we sure have to.

As someone who's been a victim in a situation like this, I'm totally on the side of the cops. We need to draw lines somewhere. There's no good argument for protecting ownership of the kind of subject matter that was deleted here.
Edit: I would encourage anyone who's downvoting me to worry less about their own digital rights and spend some time thinking about what it would be like to have explicit pictures of yourself in the hands of someone who hurt you.

I think the better question is: what real world applications need these qualities enough to justify the cost? They mention cooling application, I don't buy that anyone is that interested in reducing hotspots in their chips even if it makes them last longer.

This isn't something that let's you break into your own operating system.. It's only useful to trick someone into running malicious code. What it will be great for is supply line attacks.

If you think people are getting worked up because of fantasies then it's clear that you don't understand how big a deal this is. Even if no bad actors figured out that the entire SSL trust system was trivial to compromise during the year that these certs were valid.. it's going to be years before all client systems on the internet have their OS certificate trusts updated.
Sure browsers are safe, but countless other internet softwares aren't (curl, python, pip just to name a few I know off the top of my head). Pip has a big problem because even if the OS distrusts the eMudhra certs, it still does because it has its own trust store. This will be an attack vector (that now everyone knows about) for a while.

We don't know that. No one knows what's potentially happened out in the wild because of these faulty certificates.

I don't quite follow that either. I love my job and the work that I do, but you can't do too much of anything. I get to pay the bills doing something that I enjoy, but then I need to shut off my thinker and go do something else when 5 o'clock rolls around.

Programming for fun as a kid was a great way to learn.. however as an adult burnout is a killer, if I don't leave work at work then I turn into a mess pretty quickly. I'm pretty confused about how they think "recreational programming" prevents burnout, it sure doesn't in my experience.

But this is an ESP.. it's a 160 MHz microcontroller that does not have wired ethernet, only wifi. Also it's serving data from a USB flash drive instead of from RAM. Latency is going to be through the roof.

What I'm not seeing is the problem. I'm thankful that the police did everything in their power to put the man who abducted me behind bars. He did things to me that are too awful to talk about here, you should be thankful you've never been through anything like that. If you had I think you would see things very differently.
