Here are my suggestions:

- I don't know how resumes in NZ need to be formatted. Here are some resources that I found:

http://www.prospects.ac.uk/example_cvs.htm (A Skills-based CV seems to be what you want to do)

http://www.careers.govt.nz/how-to-get-a-job/cvs-and-cover-le...

- I suggest not being creative when formatting your resume or CV unless you are applying for designing jobs.

- Remove the Interests section or include only the interests that relate to the jobs that you are applying for. Definitely remove the line "Attempting to become a creative chef".

- Integrate some of the major keywords that a job description has into your resume or cover letter if applicable

- If LinkedIn is popular in your country, definitely set up a LinkedIn profile

- Create a different version of your resume with more focus on experience like the Traditional one mentioned here: http://www.prospects.ac.uk/example_cvs.htm and see if that works better.

I hope that helps. Best of luck!

That is great, Jem. My husband and I are considering starting a family soon. I have been debating between just taking a break from work or self employment. It is good to hear that you have been successful in working from home with your kids.
Congratulations on your launch! I like how simple it is to use. A suggestion would be to let the user include their own background.

It usually takes me months just to decide if I should work on something :). That's awesome that you were able to learn iOS programming and develop an app in just 5 months.

Le me first say that I don't work for LinkedIn :).

However, it has been quite helpful for me. A year ago, I was not happy with my job. I worked hard and long hours and felt like I was going nowhere. At the same time I didn't try looking for a new one because I didn't have enough confidence in my work experience.

All that changed when a HR manager from a different company found me through LinkedIn. We clicked really well. I am getting paid more than what I used to and I love my job. I also got promoted a few months ago.

Since that experience, I have changed my attitude about job hunting. Now, I am always on the look out for the next big opportunity. LinkedIn helps with that without me putting in too much work.

FYI, I have no endorsements on my profile. Just my basic resume.

Very impressive! I tried a few rounds and had no problems. Thanks for posting information on how you developed the app. I am venturing into building mobile apps and your article on how you developed looks very useful.
