Re:Why the CrowdStrike bug hit banks hard on Wednesday July 31, 2024 @12:16PM (#41120511)
The article specifically mentions US banks and as I personally didn't see any disruption over here - is there (anec)data on how popular CrowdStrike is in the US vs the EU?

Try todays puzzle and let us know how part 2 goes!
Re:Advent of Code 2023 is nigh on Friday December 01, 2023 @08:47AM (#38486595)
Yeah, that touch of ambiguity looked very deliberate, to give LLMs a hard time.
Re:Advent of Code 2023 is nigh on Friday December 01, 2023 @08:41AM (#38486517)
Last year there were people solving the puzzles with LLMs, but I don't think I saw anyone get past day 5 or so.

I'm interested in how well it goes this year.

Please reply if you are trying yourself or can link to public attempts by others

This year they politely ask people not to use LLM solutions until the days leaderboard is full.
Re:An Internet of PHP on Saturday September 09, 2023 @08:05AM (#37444376)
77% of top 10M sites - sounds like reeling in the long tail for effect, has to be way lower for the top 1K sites.
Probably an 80s sysadmins dream, but are multi-user Unix machines really that much of a thing currently?
For all the things wrong with node, I envy the relative filename importing they have when writing Python.
Eh, could fit into a busier "Acrid avid jam shred", I think

Should be the other way around, each cyinder fires once every two revolutions.

Meanwhile at Tesla ..
Re:Ask HN: What sub $200 product improved your 2022 on Friday January 06, 2023 @01:47PM (#34279057)
If your oven has an electronic timer, it should have a function to finish at time x, so you could even wake up to done ones. Great, for coming home from work to perfectly slow-cooked ribs, for example.
How are you coordinating the topics? Maybe by voice within earshot of a phone with Meta apps?

Re:More content by people, for people in Search on Friday August 19, 2022 @05:33AM (#32519045)
Could it be that the results have gotten so bad that less people even bother with search, hurting ad revenue?
To nobodies surprise.
Re:Ask HN: Have You Left Kubernetes? on Monday August 01, 2022 @01:49PM (#32309638)
While I like Kubernetess generally, I agree that the OOM handling is not ideal, feels quite a bit like "exercise left to the reader".
Two things that come to mind: whip developers and if that doesn't do it, bail them out.
Re:Dangit, Git? on Saturday June 25, 2022 @01:57PM (#31877292)
Thanks, will be much more comfortable passing this one to my juniors!

Dumb money drying up?
Re:Dear Spotify, can we just get a table of songs? on Saturday June 04, 2022 @04:46AM (#31618284)
Spotify UI in general feels like way too many product managers aggressively justifying their existence instead of making what the end user actually needs.
Re:Abletone Learning Synth on Friday May 06, 2022 @04:22AM (#31282733)
Yeah, my first thought was they have a new ML-based product from seeing that name.
I agree, at first reading this sounds just plain horrible. I haven't tried doing any research, can anyone point out why it's not?

So does Amazon?

Re:Microsoft YARP on Monday February 28, 2022 @04:22AM (#30497970)
Your application does indeed sound like it's beyond OTS solutions, thanks for sharing!
Re:Microsoft YARP on Sunday February 20, 2022 @05:01PM (#30409667)
Can you share more specifics on what you needed to customize that went beyond nginx's capabilities?
Re:Major breakthrough on nuclear fusion energy on Wednesday February 09, 2022 @08:13AM (#30272223)
From the article I gathered that this run was mostly about validating some design choices for ITER, not about pushing output limits.
Re:Apple removes Python 2.7 in macOS 12.3 beta on Friday January 28, 2022 @10:31AM (#30115837)
Well, anyone who still has critical stuff on Python 2, really has nobody but themselves to blame.

Bad form? Maybe. Good riddance? Yes.

Re:A Better Git Flow on Wednesday January 19, 2022 @04:38PM (#30000561)
It's true that messy commits happen, that's why squash is there.

Nothing forces you to keep the messy commit messages either - keep the short commit message and make sure it's good, then delete the combined individual commit messages from the long message field, done.
