If you’re going to support Linux, at least offer a distro-agnostic format like AppImage instead of only providing a `.deb` package.
Re:Linux 7.3 improves performance when running out of vRAM on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @06:55AM (#49343836)
I hope there will be an update where when my RAM gets full my PC doesn't freeze and becomes unusable... I remember that Linux and Windows do this in different ways and Windows doesn't have the problem.

Re:Apple bets cheaper AI will woo small developers on Tuesday June 09, 2026 @07:38AM (#48459769)
I think Apple should do niche AI as in all these companies run LLM on their infrastructure and Apple should focus on running light LLMs on their devices which are capable of doing so.

This means it would be cheap for the end user and they could sell their "privacy" by saying that the user's communication never leaves their devices

There are already 3rd party boards with ARM chips
This title is incorrect. When mining difficulty drops, Bitcoin becomes easier and cheaper to mine, so miners usually make more money per coin, as long as the Bitcoin price stays the same.
This kind of vulnerability is not tied to Signal but all apps which send notification.

I’m from Croatia, and starting and running a company here is expensive. Estonia makes it much easier, so you might think: why not open a company in Estonia?

But here is a problem: If your clients are in Croatia and you have a Croatian company, you don’t have to charge VAT if you earn under 60k per year. But if your company is in Estonia, you are required to charge VAT even if you earn under 60k.

Re:Proxmox Virtual Environment 9.0 with Debian 13 released on Tuesday August 05, 2025 @03:05PM (#44802725)
I would love if Proxmox had a UI for port forwarding. I hate doing it through the terminal. I like how LXD has a UI for that.
Re:Show HN: I rewrote my Mac Electron app in Rust on Wednesday May 28, 2025 @01:28PM (#44118453)
I am a web developer and haven't used Tauri or Electron much yet.

I am wondering why rendering differences between different platforms are such an issue? When building web apps, you face the same challenges, so I would assume it wouldn't be much different.

Re:Fedora Workstation 39 on Saturday November 11, 2023 @07:52PM (#38236169)
Currently I am using Fedora but I am looking at OpenSUSE.

I like Tumbleweed because it is rolling release but also like Fedora for its community.

I hope OpenSUSE will be more popular over time because it is q really good distro.

Re:After 30 Years, Linux Finally Hits 3% Market Share on Tuesday July 11, 2023 @07:39AM (#36679568)
Everyone knows Linux is the number one for servers and embeded devices but the desktop market share is special.

It's interesting to see how over the years the user experience of Linux Desktop ia getting better, bug are being fixed, we get better software, desktop environments are getting more features e.g.

Megaporn was good too, RIP

Re:The Disappointment of 5G on Thursday April 27, 2023 @07:52AM (#35726666)
Where are you from.
Re:The Disappointment of 5G on Thursday April 27, 2023 @07:51AM (#35726661)
I have good experience with 5G.

The speeds are great. On 4G and 4G+ I've been getting speeds of 20-30mbps even though ISP's were advertising 200+mbps speeds (theoretical maximums)

On 5G I easily get 100+mbps, majority of times around 500mbps.

Where I live we get unlimited usage 5G for around $25-30
