I guess any LPG-installed car is also a "bomb" by your definition?

Why not hardlink - so it wouldn't even know?
Re:CSS-Tricks in Limbo on Friday September 18, 2026 @04:00AM (#49751419)
The issue is likely that readers for whom DHH sounds racist have (1) read the accusative fluff about him, and (2) then read some sentences in the blog post(s). If you read more, watched interviews or asked him directly, you'd get that it's less about race and more about merit. It's just that these attributes correlate (which is not racism).
Re:CSS-Tricks in Limbo on Friday September 18, 2026 @03:54AM (#49751358)
None of the discussions on sending migrants out or being stricter on immigration is about color or race in principle. The issues are that legal processes aren't followed for immigration, or that the other cultures bring a disproportionate amount of new forms of crime.

Since enforcing laws and fighting crime is what states are doing anyway, then doing them more on immigrants achieves that goal more. (The situation is of course also unfortunate for any decent immigrants, as it will be more difficult for them to enter.)

But it's you who for some reason turns the merit argument into a race one. They do conflate, yes, perhaps that is why you can't tell the difference?

Re:CSS-Tricks in Limbo on Thursday September 17, 2026 @04:42AM (#49738026)
I don't think DHH speaks for all immigrants, but specific subgroups, including Muslims, but others as well.

Race and racism are terms you have brought in. (And I guess this is another reason where my arguments aren't actually "racist"?)

Re:CSS-Tricks in Limbo on Thursday September 17, 2026 @04:35AM (#49737975)
Do you think migrants from, say, Mexico to the US or Morocco to Spain, are skilled workers?

Also, unfortunately the lottery is real: while there are productive people who become wealthy mostly due to their own effort, there are many more who are just born into a well off country and benefit from the history before. But the question is, should a country that is well off somehow let everyone in to enjoy these benefits because it is "fair"? I guess your answer is yes, mine is no. I'd say, if you drew the less good lottery ticket then it's up to you to climb the ladder, rather than get into a rich country and start using its social services.

You'll need to point out where I'm wrong to make any progress here.

I guess you haven't felt the consequences yourself yet.

Re:CSS-Tricks in Limbo on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @02:15PM (#49730847)
Like I said, if an attribute is statistically associated with another, then one doesn't cause the other. Proportionally larger part of the immigrants produce less value to society and come to consume away what the natives produced, then basis for reducing immigration or "remigration" is merit, not race.

If you are unable to point errors in this line of thought, then making fun of it will unfortunately make your stance look even weaker.

While unfortunate that the website is inactive, then any employer is pretty much free to let go any employee (and the employee dispute this if they have grounds for it from contracts). Not to circle back to the left/right topic, but if you think this is "messed up", then I'm not sure how you think the world works at all.

If the love for that site is so great, I'm sure someone will pick it up. Otherwise, I'd doubt "size of love" we are talking about here.

Imagine there is a latin dance club, most want to dance rumba. But a pair who happens to be of other race wants to dance tango. Would sending them to another dance club be racist?

If some behavior associates with race, it doesn't mean that it is caused by race. There are plenty of African or Muslim origin people who assimilate just fine. It's just that a larger proportion than natives, some "other" groups commit more crime or live off of welfare. Race associates with less merit, yes, but doesn't cause it. Cause is merit, not race, hence not racism.

Re:CSS-Tricks in Limbo on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @03:36AM (#49723192)
Right, but DHH's argument isn't about cultural homogeneity for the sake of it, but rather the consequences of what the other cultures have brought. Reading further from links from the blog, either to his other posts, to the Tommy Robinson march, etc., would tell you that. I.e, you conflate race with merit - because they do associate in the statistics sense, but one is not the other.

The OP on the other hand demands funds from a private company, main argument being that "this other person, who I don't like, got money, then a website I do like, should too".

Re:CSS-Tricks in Limbo on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @10:30PM (#49721475)
Do you think if the immigrants didn't change the situation for the worse, he'd be making the same arguments? I doubt it.
Re:CSS-Tricks in Limbo on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @10:28PM (#49721459)
Well, the post is calling David Heinemeir Hansson "far-right". I'd instead encourage him, and perhaps you, to educate yourself on what that means, then read up on his blog post(s).
Re:CSS-Tricks in Limbo on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @12:18PM (#49714829)
The author of this post is complaining about CSS-Tricks not getting paid.

If the person who works ("works") for Digital Ocean but is not getting paid, should pretty leave immediately if that is the case. :) I.e, demanding on some moral premise that this other guy who I don't like is getting money, is quite a "far-left" way to go about it.

Interesting point. It seems that they have simply improved in this metric over the past decades, but the stereotype is stuck in the Soviet era.

Re:We have a year to fix security everywhere on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @09:19AM (#49609974)
But won't they be? If the public internet is overloaded with LLM agents, trying to break into systems, then all the non-secure systems will be found quickly, and taken off-line/fixed/etc. I.e, the hostile environment will force an outcome and a fix.
Re:We have a year to fix security everywhere on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @04:29AM (#49607329)
A positive way to spin this is: we have a year to break in into any IT system. After that, it will be all either fixed or broken into, and all is fixed ever after. :)
Re:Markdy: Like Mermaid Diagrams, but for Motion on Thursday June 25, 2026 @06:22AM (#48671408)
The topic of the demo is just ..odd: it's negative in its nature, difficult to understand (is there a message or a joke in there?), the animation isn't aesthetically pleasing either.
Re:Bitcoin and quantum computing on Wednesday April 08, 2026 @06:21AM (#47688106)
Yup. I quite literally don't know anyone who is using Bitcoin directly to pay for everyday expenses, nor even for larger purchases. It always includes using an off-ramp and going through fiat.
Thanks for the link, really interesting!
I agree with you. I'll speculate no further.
Re:Zulip.com Values on Tuesday February 10, 2026 @07:19AM (#46958743)
While I haven't used zulip recently, then a few years ago that was my experience as well.
Was this vibe coded? Readme has typos and somehow reads "fast and loose".
"Sounds like deliberate badge of ignorance" means that "crime rate is going up instead"?
There is no logical conclusion to draw, you measure this instead.
Re:US Immigration on the Easiest Setting on Friday February 06, 2026 @11:57AM (#46915238)
In context of current events it really doesn't.

Also, perhaps the pain is deliberate as to limit the inflow?

Again, vote into office people who do it the way you want and don't try to rip law apart when you're the minority.

Sure. I'm simply saying that illegals in the US and German Jews aren't the same. The latter actually were citizens, most/many of them for more than one generation while the illegals in the US have recently entered. Also, US illegals are simply deported, not killed.

Also, acquiring real estate for any org to for any activity is also normal. E.g a town government who buys a warehouse to house a temporary school or hospital.

Bloomberg is just trying to insinuate analogies here because their political party didn't win.

Following police along and whistling or filming the operation doesn't fall under free speech. E.g, the whistling is giving away to the person being captured that the police coming.

ICE has "proof" for an illegal, as otherwise they wouldn't know who they are capturing. If the alleged illegal has proof otherwise, they could produce that.

The "killings" were accidents, a woman attempted a police getaway (or a runover) and got shot while doing that. The other person had a gun while he was taken down. He was not using it and in fact the gun had been removed from him, then some gun went off after which the guy was shot dead. Neither of these events were pre-planned. My suggestion for protesters would be to not try to drive away form the cops, even less so to drive onto them, nor carry a gun to a protest, or if you do, don't enter any situation where you are to be detained.

If the captured illegal is actually not in the country illegally, the should easily be able to get out of the situation by proving it.

The protesters are not protesting, they are interfering with a police operation. They could protest at town square, etc.
