I think we are the bubble generation, like the poor schmuck who died last in the ww2, humans will live forever and conquer the space.
assuming those in control are there for meritocracy and are competent and that's why are there, they would have reacted, but no, are there due to their parens/people they know, and bribes.
What happens if you don't pay? you need some written approval or what?
the comments here remind of the dropbox thread as well, people here can be so shortsighted.
there "Instant-availability of the secondary market" you're just talking bullshit, there is no such thing, as per your second point so what? do you think pokemon cards people didn't hired "specialists" either? What are those design choices to make them addicted, is a box it opens and that's it. This kind of post is what I hate about NY, people thinking they are so smart, while having quite a narrow/naive/first world view.
you are risking your career and monetary stability, at your 20s too, if you start a company and fail, you risk going homeless and having a huge gap on your cv.
can't you just use different names, algF32, algF64, really? is this the end of the world? No wander we have npm packages isEven and isOdd, sometimes you need to get yours hands dirty.
Buy Bitcoin, let the crooked bans.
In my country the spreed to exchange eur or usd to local current is huge, you lose at least 10%
I'm surprised no one mentioned the solution, buy bitcoin..
at start I actually had doubts on go due to the mascot and the naming, like Go -> Google, they name it after the company, another thing they expect to put google in front of it and we have to love it.
but not everything is moving into the could/servers, who does development for desktop nowdays? phoneapps also have same structure as webapps, what other type of dev you mean, industrial?
I think he meant how many confirmations they want, 0 confirmations is instant, also unlike paypal you won't get charge-backed.
if you have 9k dollars and you don't need to spend it on something, and you want to save, what are your options, keep it cash, will only loose its value (maybe less in US but in other countries yes with 7% inflation), you would pay bank fees, and the money would do nothing, buy gold, is complicated, you need to make a contract, again pay fees to hold it for you, buy real estate, is to little money, buy stocks, is complicated, which stock, 90% of countries don't even have a stock market, invest it in a business, again.. you don't have time, is complicated, which business etc., art/wine/collectives, to little money, you need to store it, research, etc,
So tell me which is a better investment/store of value 9k money, at this moment?, without needing weeks of research and paperwork and fees, etc.
It is a fair point but you can't buy bitcoin these days without kyc, not to say the IP trace, if they can break tor/proxies and access exchanges records they can "follow the bitcoins", but then again how much funding you need, in EU recently there were quite a few attacks where they just rented a big truck and ran over people, also the bomb in the airport, they made it from some cheap chemicals, and then took a cab.
how would a government pay to secure their blockchain? how would they find those dealing everything in bitcoin? One of the reason of URSS going down was the huge administrative costs of spying / investigating, keeping up the oppression on its citizens.
if you didn't dealt with this you can't understand, but simply put, 1 week of pay could be toilet paper next week(s), as it happened in Venezuela.
In my country some years ago, in a time of crisis for example the government locked all foreign currency in banks, and auto exchanged it for the national currency, at a rate set by them, it was robbery basically, prices would jump up like 25% day to day, so the national current was worthless, oh, they did the same with all the private owned gold in banks or so they could grab, sold for national currency, same scenario I think it happened in Basil too, government locking money in banks.
hmm.. what's happening is a bit of bitcoin weakness, a lot of hash power came in, raised difficulty and then left, 40% or so, tomorrow the difficult should adjust, the dangers of centralized mining, although these shenanigans may lead to a proof of work change.
Wish someone will ask Zuckerberg if he feels stupider now that he no longer very young, and why we should listen to him by his words he is getting stupider by the day.
care to enlighten me? if you have an index you could get the sort for free, also you never pull all results, so why would you pull all, just to sort, on the web I would love to work more in ram, but since you assume a server will crash, you need to save the actual state in the db.
I did worked with spring boot and intelijava, and I timed for a decent size project it was over 40 seconds, but I believe a lot of it was Intelijava compiling, anyway, in go is instant.
how often do you sort? most of the time you would do a database ORDER BY instead.
For me Go is amazing, is my first language where I don't need a virtual machine or interpreter to compile to machine code, C++ is OK but not for day to day web.
Changing something then having to wait 40 seconds for java to recompile drive me crazy, also same for tests. Yes would love to have a package system, but is coming.
Tulips bubble never happened, is just propaganda
demand and offer, I wander why the elitist hacker rank "liberal" people don't get it, the difficulty is so high because there is a lot of hash power, the network would be fine with much less, I think around 15% of the current one.
On the logic of banning stuff for power saving, we should ban video games and movies.
