Oh Konsole while great (efficient and feature-rich) is showing its age and has a bit of a widget bloat and an unwieldy configuration system. For that reason I switched to Kitty a couple of years ago when I was transitioning to neovim I'm have not looked back since.
This looks like a great opportunity for the KDE project to rethink its terminal application for the modern age. Text-based config would be amazing though not sure how it'll fit into KDE Frameworks etc.
Well, I've used Fedora since 2024 on my laptop and it went through four or five major upgrades, never had an issue.
My server is running on NixOS and I went with systemd containers - really happy with my setup. It was not at all difficult to set it up with Claude
I don't think they published details but the Atlas model is a feed forward neural network, and not Gaussian splat based model. Unlike GS it works from a few images.
Yeah, weird. I've run Fedora and OpenSUSE Tumbleweed (rolling distro) for two and a half years each.
We need the same that runs Linux. I want to connect a Bluetooth keyboard, open my favourite Kitty terminal and ssh to my work server anywhere I go.
The hardware is probably stellar and it must be an incredible reading device, but it's 2026 and I refuse to buy a device with a proprietary locked down software ecosystem.
Could you share a link to source code/repo? I couldn't find it
I'm running my homelab on NixOS with systemd containers, which I admit isn't for everyone. Still, I think it's a better base than Ubuntu.
This is brilliant. How do we reconcile it with democracy though?
I'm using a similar setup with soularr, and I just need to import my playlists from Spotify, but I'd rather not use a fork of lidarr.
I've also canceled my Spotify sub three weeks ago and migrated to Navidrome. I'm still not quite satisfied with the available clients, I'm using Feishin. Fastpotift looks like a nice candidate to extend to support Navidrome.
> wayland is not cross platform nor stable.
I've been using Wayland for two and a half years and it's been more stable than X11 that I've been using prior for years.
Better money spent than on Omarchy.
https://world.hey.com/dhh/three-sacred-cows-that-must-die-so...> Behind this climate hysteria is an even deeper delusion, though: that degrowth will deliver us all from the sins of modernity. That energy use in and of itself is suspect. That salvation will be delivered through abstinence. It's all nonsense.
Maybe slightly off-topic, but here a prominent figure in SV who now also got into Linux is mocking those concerned about climate change.

They are solving the wrong problem.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_March exactly the same thing as what they tried to pull off in Ceuta last week, and with the support of the US. Since the occupation began, Morocco settled hundreds of thousands of its own people. Not surprising that another settler colonial state, Israel, is Morocco's ally.
During the past winters Russia was deliberately bombing energy infra in Ukraine with civilians left freezing in their apartments. I know that two wrongs don't make a right, but why should we expect Ukraine to fight cleanly against an invading force 5 times its size and resources, which has been obliterating its cities, occupied 20% of its land and committed every war crime imaginable?
I don't see any evidence of a flame war in this discussion, in fact there is an overwhelming consensus in the comments on the side of the author.
This is where I first saw it too, but 10 minutes later it was no longer there.
This is no longer on the front page of HN despite 200+ points and having been posted 1 hour ago.
I remember trying to cancel NYT subscription a few years back and it was almost impossible. I didn't expect it from such a reputable establishment.
My rule is that if you want to settle in the country, you ought to learn the local language and it doesn't really matter how much money you make in my opinion. I got to B2 and passed the test, but ultimately left Germany years ago. I don't intend to go back but I also don't regret learning the language.
As another commenter said that he acquired both with the money made on Facebook, they didn't originate within the company.
None. And I have a PC, a personal laptop, a work laptop, my current and my previous Android phone.
Yes, native UI toolkits are not perfect, even though I consider Qt very close to one (I'm sure naysayers will find nitpicks). In the end, the choice is between the apps that eat 1GB of your RAM and learning to deal with some idiosyncrasies of native toolkits.
Not until it's rolled out by our IT team. It's a managed installation.
It's a bit sad, but do most even care about elegant and efficient code these days in the age of coding agents?
I'd kill for KDE 6.4 crying in my work laptop with Ubuntu 24.04 with Plasma 5.27 :)
