So just use it until the motherboard dies, why switch before it dies?
Re:The darker side of being a doctor on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @08:05AM (#49814826)
It does not require more than your standard 8-17. Know tons of doctors that work the same hours as I do and spend their free time the way I do.
Re:Starlink is currently experiencing a service outage on Monday September 15, 2025 @07:38AM (#45248507)
UK has about 70% fiber coverage. Sweden has 97% network gigabit-capable coverage and we have way lower population density.
My biggest grief with that site is that it's like something from the 90s.

Re:Ask HN: Are there any fulfilling careers in tech anymore? on Tuesday August 29, 2023 @09:28AM (#37307596)
I work in cybersecurity so that feels quite fulfilling when you constantly secure companies and government against external threats.
Re:Ad blocking is under attack on Thursday October 27, 2022 @11:10AM (#33358731)
Well when you have ideas and thoughts that are not shared by the majority it's no wonder you get downvoted.
Re:Show HN: Soso.ooo – Google Search Alternative on Friday October 07, 2022 @02:30AM (#33118076)
Well this seems pretty useless
TIL: No author has a salary it's just "passive income"...

Renewing cards, don't they just send you a new one in the mail when the old one expires?
Re:The cold hard truth about electric vehicles in winter on Friday March 04, 2022 @10:41AM (#30556258)
ICE veichles will start even if it is cold, I live in the far north of Sweden and we often have -30C and the cars start with no problems even if you dont have a heater in it.

This EV test however is barely in cold weather, it gets a lot worse when it's cold.

Re:Scientist busts myths about how humans burn calories on Friday February 18, 2022 @03:18AM (#30383330)
Swedish speed skater Nils Van Der Poel drinks cream and eats crisps, LOTS of it, while training just to get enough calories in his body to continue training so number 1 is faulty.
Re:Show HN: Open-core icon sets that took me 12 years to create on Wednesday February 16, 2022 @05:34AM (#30358337)
I don't think the author understands what open source is.
Re:How to know if you’re addicted on Friday February 11, 2022 @01:53PM (#30305511)
Same here, I'm probably considered an alcoholic because of the ammount of liquour I drink per week/month but I can work out every single day and stay in great shape but come friday and saturday I do empty quite a few units. Stopping the weekend urge is hard.
When I read "senior" I often interpret it as "has a lot of experience" which has nothing to do with skill. Speaking for myself who has a shit ton of experience in a lot of tools, techniques, languages and so on but is SHIT in most of them. I'd be hired before a lot of better candidates based on my years of experience in the area but not because of my skill in the area.
Not often I see people trolling like this on HN.
Re:Music industry is suing youtube-dl hosters on Friday January 14, 2022 @05:24AM (#29932718)
But who sees ads on youtube, don't everyone use an ad-blocker?
Re:NASA spacecraft ‘touches’ the Sun for the first time ever on Wednesday December 15, 2021 @04:51AM (#29563852)
If the Moon was 10x as far away from the Earth as it is now then that would still be closer to Earth than this probe ever was to the Sun.
Re:Supersonic Trebuchet on Thursday December 02, 2021 @03:57PM (#29422443)
I think if anything in that machine snaps it would rip right through his body.
That page could use the help of a designer / ux person. Things from the 90s look better than that.
Re:Why is Excalidraw so good? on Friday November 05, 2021 @06:07AM (#29117280)
I've used such an app myself on my work environments and if anyone ever questioned what I did a certain day I could always go back and look.

Very helpful when filling out the time report if you are reporting time on many different customers.

If a company force installed it on your PC it is probably not a good place to work at.

Surfing the net without javascript is the most foilhat thing I've read today.
Re:Intergalactic jump inspired by science-fiction movies on Monday September 27, 2021 @06:01AM (#28668899)
https://wormhole.app/ Uses this effect also.
I'd break any promise I'd ever made for that ammount of cash.
Re:UsTaxes – open-source tax filing web application on Friday July 30, 2021 @06:04AM (#28006338)
If I earn income in another country i pay the income tax in that country. My home country does not care or know about it, like it should be.
I work with Splunk and this book would be good for some of my users..
Re:Does the Kremlin want Alexei Navalny to die in prison? on Tuesday April 13, 2021 @04:51AM (#26789742)
Doubt it matters, Russians have no choice. Putin will rule until he is dead.
A lot of you are armed.
I hardly know anyone who uses Whatsapp, people mostly use messenger in swe, nor, fin, den.
