To me it seems that a topic that is both popular and a taboo is bound to cause issues, one way or another.

There is little competition for taboo topics in politics, so those who lean into them become a kind of a monopoly for these issues. They don't need to play nice to compete, because they are the sole provider.

In Germany, immigration is the most popular issue and also a taboo. AfD has a complete monopoly on it. They get away with the baggage because for a large share of voters, the alternative just does not exist.

I have a mental model where the feasibility of things for humans to do is like a ladder. AI shifted the ladder down as opposed to just breaking it.

Easy became trivial, medium-hard became easy, and impossible became possible.

Corps and big institutions have unlocked a completely new space to play in. Smaller players can now challenge corps in their current domains. What small teams used to do are now pet projects.

It takes some time for everyone to climb back up, making the ladder feel crowded - a bad time to get on as a beginner (or someone that fell off).
