> Currently skills cannot be tagged to different models. Ideally we should be able to say -- for trivial tasks, the skill should always use Haiku even if invoked from a session with Opus xhigh.
You can set the model for a skill. You just set model: haiku at the top and it will use haiku! You can even set the effort level, look for “Frontmatter reference” in this doc article: https://code.claude.com/docs/en/skills
> However, if you want to call yourself an engineer (and work in the field), you must understand the underlying mechanics. IMHO if you want to defeat a competitor today, you don’t need industrial espionage - you just have to cut their internet and/or AI subscriptions. Modern vibe engineers would struggle to function.
True, but on the other hand, when I started programming (hell, even before the whole LLM craze began) and you took away my internet/stackoverflow/google I would also drastically lose productivity. Especially in my more junior years, and later, of course I could still write code, but if I had to figure out how a certain library worked or why a certain error in the auth layer happened, without internet I would be nowhere.
Most of the time the answers are interchangable. There are a few exceptions but then you just look for "Specific problem .Net6" for example.
To be fair, most people using an iPhone don't download music onto their phones but instead just use Spotify/Apple Music/whatever other music service is hot at the moment. It still sucks, but this is a fairly specific usecase imo.
Yes, yes, yes! I wish the rest of our ASP.NET Razor stuff was in React so that everything would be traceable. Right now our code base is split between React and Razor with JS(/Jquery) all over the place. This results in files containing thousands of lines of code, which makes checking what logic is behind a button/form is incredibly hard. With React we have all logic for a certain component in the component itself, making it easy to figure out what is going on.
Funny that you say that, I did the exact opposite. Was quite an Android fanatic until I switched to iPhone and noticed how greatly everything was integrated. Next to the integration of my AirPods and Watch the apps on the iPhone are generally of better quality than my experiences on Android. Everything just feels a lot more native and faster. Probably caused by the fact that Apple is just a lot more stricter in what it allows developers to do + the fact that Android runs on literally thousands of different screen sizes, where there are only a couple of screen sizes that a developer has to take into account on the i(Pad)OS side.
What other plugins do you use besides the Sync plugin?
What a weird thing to say.
There is no magical playlist that will let you focus more on your code. For some people it can cause less focus when listening to music. (I can't listen to any english hiphop while coding because I get distracted by it)
I usually hold the left side of my palm down a bit in order to press the ctrl button. So I rarely touch the ctrl button with a finger.
Yeah I really hate that I can no longer easily hook up my laptop to my LG OLED tv and just press play on the movie I downloaded. Nowadays I have to download PotPlayer, change the renderer and increase the brightness whenever I want to playback a 10bit HDR movie.
Yes and I'm saying that it doesn't hurt to just give them a pay raise after x amount of time, even if it's just a few percentages.
This really depends on the company you work for, I've had several increases of salary at the same employer, just because I asked for it and had some good arguments. It costs way more money to get a new employee than it will cost to give an existing employee a pay raise.
Unfortunately you have to ask for a raise in order to get one in most companies. Otherwise they can always go defensive and say "they didn't even know you wanted one!", just shoot your shot. In the worst case you don't get it and you know you can look for another job if you really want a pay raise.
I feel like this is such an annoying attitude from companies. Just show your appreciation towards your employees and give them a raise once in a while. Without the employee having to ask the employer. I get that money needs to be made, but that will stop fairly quickly if you don't keep your employees happy. Of course you will hear the standard management talk "but then, how are we supposed to know that you want a raise", come on man, no one will ever complain about a pay raise.
One Dark Pro Darker. But I have a long list of themes where I just randomly pick on ones in a while. Sometimes I switch to a light theme and sometimes a dark one. I have the same thing as you, it's also dependent on which language I'm working on the most. Some themes work better with one language than the other.
Yes, but as I said, I already have a 'regular' Ergodox. That would be the same as replacing a pair of perfectly good shoes for shinier newer ones.
Each time I see this I really want to buy it, but I can't justify the price tag. Especially since I already have a 'regular' Ergodox from Falbatech. I recently bought a Keychron Q1, because I was also craving for just a regular keyboard with QMK support.
Could you explain why captcha is controlling our digital lives? I mean sure they can force me to find a boat on every picture but other than that they don't really control me as far as I know.
It is an open source project for an extremely complex piece of software. The fact that it can open/edit documents is baffling to me. I mean, Microsoft is basically the only one that figured out how to do it right. (as in, performance wise/software wise) They probably have hundreds, if not thousands of developers working on this thing, with a lot of them having tons of knowledge on really specific things. (things like rendering etc)
Dude calm down, he literally states that he isn't a developer and is asking _why_ it is 'still so bad'. You could explain to him why it is really hard to properly implement things in a piece of software as vast as LibreOffice. Attacking him for even asking the question isn't the way to go imo.
From my experience, almost every website doesn't feel as nice in Firefox as it does in Chrome. Ofcourse some of those sites are maintained by Google (YouTube).
> Turn down the millennialspeak just a bit...
Sounds like you're a boomer! /s
I had the exact same question. I don't see myself coding from my phone, because typing on a on-screen keyboard is just awful.
A lot of people always go crazy when someone asks this question and instantly praise Total Commander. Link can be found here:

At our company we use Cordova for all our apps, which means we have to use WKWebView in order to render our application. As does ever Cordova app.
Deno initial release was 4 years ago, in tech that's ancient, right? :)
Ah sad to see that there is no Azure DevOps support. Would've been great if you could just use a ADO dashboard and show it in your terminal.
It's literally the same except that you can name it differently with a nice icon that goes with it. You can also determine which apps should/shouldn't send you a notification and which persons can slip through. It can also be enabled automatically based on certain factors (like time for example).
About FancyZones, the nice thing about it is that you can define the zones where Windows will snap the windows to using the WIN+[arrow key] short cut. I'm especially loving this app when using it on my 4K monitor, as this is where the zones really come in handy. I'm pretty much only using FancyZones.
