You have convinced yourself of having a pretty good idea, not to be confused with having anything close to a crystal ball's view.
Re:Can we have the day off? on Thursday May 28, 2026 @12:44AM (#48304606)
I don't think this is an accurate picture for a number of reasons, first and foremost that these people regularly died from trivially preventable reasons. That luxury today takes a lot of effort from a lot of people.

I'm pretty sure most of white collar HN crowd isn't being ground into dust. It'd be cool to work less though!

What other companies are pushing into this space with similar offerings, but flying under the radar compared to all the bad press Flock has been getting?
Re:Apocalypse Early Warning System on Friday May 01, 2026 @06:05PM (#47981029)
I think news of such an impeding scenario would probably percolate through their circles first, before the wider media.
Re:Apocalypse Early Warning System on Friday May 01, 2026 @06:01PM (#47980986)
I'd like to see this site the week of the Superbowl.
Re:Gemini 3 Pro Preview Live in AI Studio on Tuesday November 18, 2025 @11:50AM (#45968772)
Did you notice that this embedded a Gemini API connection within the app itself? Or am I not understanding what that is?
Re:LLMs are steroids for your Dunning-Kruger on Monday November 10, 2025 @04:21PM (#45881107)
Or to put it another way, it's great at filling in the "don't know what you don't know" gap.
So much intelligence devoted to what is obviously a huge con - the Big Lie?
Re:Busy Status Bar from Flipper Devices on Monday October 14, 2024 @10:26PM (#41844341)
For the non-adversary who wants something similar in nature, that might help them practice, why not? Not everyone is trying to cheat.
Yeah, lithium mining is not even in the same ballpark as bunker fuel used to power large cargo vessels.
Re:Nearly half of Mariupol has suffered grave damage on Friday April 22, 2022 @10:22AM (#31121906)
That's not actually how those were fought at all.
Re:The Huge Endeavor to Produce a Tiny Microchip on Sunday April 10, 2022 @09:17AM (#30976708)
Well that's pretty easily disproven. I think it has to do with what kind of article it is.
Re:Canada to ban foreigners from buying homes on Thursday April 07, 2022 @01:19PM (#30947540)
Would've been better to just implement a land value tax.
They didn't.
Re:Stripe Crypto on Thursday March 10, 2022 @12:31PM (#30629672)
It's wild, considering the cryptopunk thing is happening _now_, not in the 90s.
Re:Stripe Crypto on Thursday March 10, 2022 @12:27PM (#30629611)
So crypto qualifies.
Tariffs create more problems than they solve.
Re:The Dubai Debt Trap on Monday February 21, 2022 @04:59PM (#30421180)
Dubai is not more diverse than the US. The largest disapora of essentially every other nation on Earth reside in the US.
Re:The Dubai Debt Trap on Friday February 18, 2022 @10:25AM (#30386893)
In the face of all of this, the US remains the most desirable place to emigrate to. The logical conclusion here is that the impression you have from news is not the complete picture. The US is massive and diverse. If you go by the county level, the US contains the highest HDI areas in the world.
Re:The Dubai Debt Trap on Friday February 18, 2022 @10:19AM (#30386799)
It's pretty clear that both you and logicchains are here to concern troll, nothing more.
Re:Polaris Program on Monday February 14, 2022 @11:39AM (#30334075)
The first launch will happen this year using an existing Falcon 9 rocket.
Re:Feds arrest couple, seize $3.6B in hacked Bitcoin funds on Tuesday February 08, 2022 @03:06PM (#30263845)
Correct, though on second thought, given how slow many DAOs are to operate, the perpetrators would already be in some other uncontrollable currency by the time people voted to blacklist certain wallets.
Re:Feds arrest couple, seize $3.6B in hacked Bitcoin funds on Tuesday February 08, 2022 @12:48PM (#30261718)
A DAO could just as easily decide to do the same, but it'd need to be built into the smart contracts.
Re:Feds arrest couple, seize $3.6B in hacked Bitcoin funds on Tuesday February 08, 2022 @12:47PM (#30261700)
Another possibility is Ironfish(https://ironfish.network/), but I don't know how much liquidity there exists in either of these. I don't think you could launder/hide $4bn through either of these. Perhaps slowly over a long period of time.
Re:Web3 is not going to change the world on Thursday February 03, 2022 @01:15PM (#30196289)
Take a look at their community, it's quite interesting.

Tokenization opens a lot of doors that traditional models otherwise don't.

Re:Web3 is not going to change the world on Thursday February 03, 2022 @01:13PM (#30196252)
Polygon(ETH L2) has sub-$0.01 tx fees, fwiw.
Re:Web3 is not going to change the world on Thursday February 03, 2022 @09:21AM (#30192717)
I'm only aware of Dharma wallet, but I'm sure there are others - allows direct & free(well, except MATIC for gas I suppose) deposits from your fiat accounts onto Polygon, an Ethereum L2.
Re:Web3 is not going to change the world on Thursday February 03, 2022 @09:13AM (#30192615)
Bitcoin and Ethereum Mainnet can have high transaction fees. Virtually nothing else has fees even close to that high, however
