"acknowledging that it's possible" Even then, once the poison of suspicion has been delivered the harm is done.
(who may be using coal?)

Australia and Germany?

"facilitating surveillance and IP theft" ... Which is pretty funny coming from the US!
In France we have a special health insurance policy dedicated for treating illegal immigrants ("AME: Aide Médicale d'État"). Yup... Too bad that many people will call you a racist if you ever start to say it is unfair for people who already paid into the system.
Re:Disable SMT/Hyperthreading in all Intel BIOSes on Friday August 24, 2018 @07:51AM (#17834315)
I feel the same, maybe I will switch to AMD next time I upgrade. On the other end, I am happy with my budget dedicated server: its Intel Atom N2800 is so "rustic" that it did not get affected by any of Intel vulns (yet).
Re:Are we stuck with cement? on Sunday July 01, 2018 @07:39PM (#17438342)
Interesting fact: there is actually a global sand shortage (https://www.independent.co.uk/news/long_reads/sand-shortage-...)
Could you elaborate about the headaches in the weekend? I also noticed I can not do much during the day without coffee but I never linked my headaches to caffeine.
European here. Nope. You are talking about Eurocheques.

I think he is refering to the Outlook Web App.
Re:Millions of Men Are Missing from the Job Market on Monday October 17, 2016 @11:02AM (#12725572)
I think it depends on your field/position. From my experience, anything else than management will get you a rather bad income. Most of "software engineers" in France are basically considered as making a job at technician/operator level. Some of these jobs are actually getting exported to India or Spain.
If someone has remote access to your computer then either way you are screwed. Using password or key file won't change anything.

If your laptop get stolen, then just remove the corresponding line in your authorized_keys file.

> IIRC they're still doing that. In India I think?

They still do this in France and they are being sued for this. Actually this is in today's French headlines.

Re:Why GNU grep is fast (2010) on Wednesday August 24, 2016 @11:54AM (#12352927)
Somehow this reminds me of this quote from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry: "Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away."
Same here in France, the owner of the Wifi AP is liable in case of illegal downloads. However a large majority of ISP implemented a separate free Wifi that is independent of your connection. You have access to all the free wifi AP from this ISP if you don't opt-out.
I confirm this the case in France: the license for "House of Cards" was bought by Canal+.

You can force the page to reader view by adding it to your reading list.
No. You completely miss the point. Many of the terrorists were westerners recently converted to Islam. Also they did not come from poor social classes. They don't have the "excuse" of having grown in a troubled society, they were not desperate because of their shitty life,... Yet they decided to commit atrocities too.

Or you can do it quick and dirty with a simple Google search: https://www.google.com/search?q=y+%3D+sqrt%281-x^2%29

You might find it interesting: http://compnetworking.about.com/od/traceipaddresses/f/ip_loc...

IP locations are kept in databases that have many limitations. Some examples of the limitations I found here in France:

- at best your ISP links your IP with the DSLAM location or simply the city for the most lazy. Sometimes there are mistakes: one of my friend living in the north of France has his IP "geolocated" in the south of France...

- lots of big corporations only give the address of their headquarters

- IP location from 3G/4G network is completely wrong 90% of the time

Glass leaches heavy metals (mainly lead).
"Water in an of itself won't hurt lungs"

Yes it does: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drowning#Secondary_drowning

If you ever get saved from near drowning, you are still not safe.

Flappy Bird in Cobol!
Re:US military UAVs migrate to Linux on Wednesday May 07, 2014 @06:10AM (#7709397)
I don't think so. Without technology any basic daily task become incredibly difficult. Try surviving a month in the wild: most of your thoughts and activity in a day would be focused toward getting food, drink, shelter...

Technology freed us from these burdens.

My bank uses a 6 digits pin code...

At least you have to enter the code in a virtual numpad that is randomized after each connection on their webpage.

I guess they settled for this measure so it does not annoy their less "tech-savvy" customers. I am baffled to see banks working with such low security practices in general ("admin"-like access on your bank accounts by any employee, checking money transfers AFTER executing it,...).

Same goes for Virgin Mobile France.
Re:Neovim's Next Feature Poll on Wednesday April 30, 2014 @05:10AM (#7672274)
Maybe I didn't get the point of neovim but I don't really see how a GUI could be a useful addition for vim. I only use gvim because colorschemes have nicer colors.

There are even so-called "Black-Ops Plastics" specifically designed to be fully IR transparent: http://qwonn.com/black-ops-plastics.html

Not necessarily: the email address could be the classical <first name>.<name>@<whatever>.com.
As an interviewer how would you prove during a trial that by asking these kind of questions you were not intending to discriminate the interviewee?
