OpenAI naming scheme makes no sense. I get naming is hard but atleast keep it consistent.

Re:Stop Thinking of LLMs as Next-Token Predictors on Friday September 04, 2026 @06:58PM (#49571179)
The chess analogy is not great since there is a defined heuristic in chess for "winning" or "optimal board state". A system doesn't need pretraining if they can fit the rule.

Are emergency stockpiles calculated correctly? China should not be the first to be exposed.
yes and no. With 82 billion in cash and 22billion profit per year, they can easily service it for a while even if AI consumption takes a downturn.
Re:Guide to data tools landscape for developers on Thursday July 16, 2026 @01:34PM (#48937615)
excluding Denodo from the list sows this is more of a non-enterprise guide to data management and tools. There is only one real semantic layer that can cover operational and historical data and thats Denodo. If you use snowflake horizon or unity, all the data needs to be loaded first and not real time.

interesting to see this from Google after the SAP acquisition of Prior Labs.
Re:Claude Sonnet 5 on Tuesday June 30, 2026 @02:25PM (#48737080)
interesting footnotes: "Sonnet 5 is an upgrade to Sonnet 4.6, but it uses an updated tokenizer... can map to more tokens: roughly 1.0–1.35× depending on the content type." AKA expect higher costs on Sonnet 5 vs Sonnet 4.6 for the same tasks.

the color-codes make those benchmarks charts impossible to understand. very pretty though.

"But what if I told you that all you need is 1000 lines of python + a github repo?" didnt need to read past this line LMAO. not at all enterprise.

Re:IBM AI ('Bob') Downloads and Executes Malware on Thursday January 08, 2026 @03:22PM (#46545930)
Do we really need another LLM CLI ?
Not quite, Polymarket is decentralized so they are even more removed from the outcome. When a dispute happens like this, a vote happens in the UMA DAO, essentially a decentralized "democratic" vote. What people are complaining about is UMA whales skewing votes.

Out of nowhere Cognition with a banging product. Probably not 100% yet but the idea is so good I'll be surprised if within 6 months all the other IDEs aren't copying.
Re:SwirlDB: Modular-first, CRDT-based embedded database on Wednesday October 29, 2025 @07:59PM (#45754715)
