yes

That's great and all but how was their work?

I'll have to look into this. In some limited cases verbosity that leads to a more obvious and understandable presentation is preferable, at least to me.
Factoid is is used correctly here. There are two meanings though strangely they are opposite in terms of truthiness
Re:On Learning Rust and Go: Migrating Away from Python on Sunday March 24, 2019 @10:26AM (#19476491)
These two stuck out as well. I wonder if the issue is with their coding practices and not necessarily a fault with the language.

If the issue is one of fundamentals it will only follow them to the next project or language

They might not even know the answer themselves and have a solution in front of them that they are comparing yours to.

Then they just said the first thing that came to their mind rather than that they don't know.

I would prefer it be more explicit and say, "each digit can only be used once".

Different can be interpreted in multiple ways.

Reminds me of a physics test where the question is something like:

Susie is almost at her house and comes to a stop in 4 seconds. What was her acceleration.

What is the scientific method used in physics
An alternative idea is that the pope is only saying that so the science-minded folks don't leave.
I know it hides similar parts of a series of emails because it cuts off my email salutation and sometimes people think that I'm being disrespectful. I wish I could stop it from doing that.

If true, I wonder how similar these emails were to have that happen.

I hate to say it but after reading all of your comments this on in particular think I'm sold on the idea and I was really against it when I read your first comment. I don't know if will catch on but I would definitely give it a chance.
Re:The periodic table is 150 years old this week on Saturday March 02, 2019 @12:03AM (#19287663)
Is it the is/are issue?

Maybe they are using it as a mass noun or speaking specifically about the the phrase itself or the idea of data structures. Could stem from a cultural or ESOL reason.

I take commercial to mean lian-li (who made their old cases), cooler aster, antec, etc. Large volume manufacturers.

It's probably easier for them to vertically integrate the case into their business than go with a low volume niche manufacturer and deal with the hazards that come with that

You can change the indexing method if you want but that can introduce its own issues

I have the same issues with rules like that.

Then A disputes the claim a YouTube asks B if the they are sure its infringing on their copyright. B lies and says yes, then YouTube sides with B while A gets a copyright strike, 3 of which and you lose your channel.

Scammers are also extorting money from Youtubers using this feature of Youtube's claim process. See: ObbyRaidz

Re:How to write code in modern Fortran (2011) [pdf] on Sunday January 27, 2019 @03:51PM (#19013711)
A youtuber that I follow recently finished his PhD and used FORTRAN extensively. He said that he started with python and it was incredibly slow so he rewrote everything in FORTRAN.

It may be that his use case (something with cloud or other weather modeling function) was just particularly well suited

Hopefully something will be done about the nuclear waste before the ice melts and exposes it.
Indirect (negative) correlation is used when something goes up but the thing under discussion goes down.

I think you were thinking of inversely proportional.

Searching Wikipedia, inverse correlation is also valid but I've always heard it called indirect or negative.

I knew what you meant and you were on the right track.

I'm not a fan of the VLC icon change but I use something else because of it. It's their choice to include it an my choice not to use it.

Disabling it is easy enough but I have other things to do.

Re:Simple rules for documenting scientific software on Sunday December 23, 2018 @01:58AM (#18744843)
I do this as well. I started doing it in college mainly as a citation but I find it helpful to do a similar thing for this reason as well as for any of the less mainstream algorithms or theorems that would provide further information.

To my knowledge they had Apple logos because they were Apple products.

Maybe there's more to it but that's what I understood so far.

Removing the Apple logo from Apple products in order to ship them to the states so they can be used to fix Apple products seems unnecessary.

Re:Apple accused of overpricing, restricting device repairs on Sunday October 21, 2018 @11:10PM (#18271905)
It seems as though there is always a way. With things like GreyKey and the like popping up and probably other stuff no one is talking about.

In term of telegram, I'm not positive but I always thought that the encryption was in transit and if you could infect the phone you could see the messages as the intended user looks at them. An "analog problem" attack if you will.

I don't know if you can see telegram messages simply by having access to the phone.
