Many things that we treasure are anomalies in the grand scheme of human history. Treating other races as human beings, valuing life and human potential, believing that everyone including women should be educated... How's that appeal to historical authority apply in those cases? Perhaps you're also a monarchist? In which case, my bad, at least you're consistent :)

Just because individuals may not be fully aware of the consequences of their actions does not make them suddenly not responsible for them. See for example not studying well in college, eating poorly, not exercising, walking around barefoot in hookworm country, leaving food out while camping in bear country, and swimming without underwear in candiru-infested rivers.

Yes, I read the article, although I appreciate your manner of suggesting i haven't over what it could have been. And again - the responsibility for making poor choices and over-reliance on AI lies with the individual, regardless of what the article says. This is like saying that responsibility for being able to do mental math should be tackled by the professional community because calculators exist, or that the professional chef community needs to get involved to prevent a devolution of skills due to this new-fangled micro-wave oven.
Artificial Dams are renowned for their limited damming capabilities with respect to the natural beaver-built genuine article.

Plans and git worktrees. If you (or anyone else here) want more info than that, give me a way to reach out and I'm happy to help. I regularly run 40+ subagents sustained in parallel (productively) without toe-stepping or any significant rework.

they're very clearly talking about multiple independent features, each of which may have sequential lines of work.

The professionals who are deskilling themselves, obviously.

Of course. I hadn't noticed that the definition of 'like' in the dictionary is no longer 'similar to', any more, 'but exclusively equivalent'. Strange how words keep morphing meanings so suddenly, in these modern times! Glad there are people like you to keep us folks who are used to words having at least a somewhat-consistent meaning up-to-date :)

The Dunning-Kruger effect got published because Dunning and Kruger and their reviwers were... subject to the Dunning-Kruger effect? <dies laughing>

Learning mathematics is about understanding the world, not proving things.

I don't know that I'd want bots to think I was threatening them with non-existence. that feels... unsafe?
I had this experience having AI critique my poetry back when GPT4 came out. The right prompting can go a long way (and these days, apparently not even that :))

24, 128, approach infinity -- I know there are microtonal systems, but if you want to understand them, choose the nearest multiple-of-twelve (or really, choose whatever TET contains the closest approximations to the exact notes) TET and look where their intervals land with respect to the symmetries (factors) within that TET, and where those symmetries are broken by a note moving by a perceptual 'slide' (one note 'moves' into the other position) rather than sounding like a new distinct voice.
bioweapons tend to not remain contained to the area they're deployed (with notable exceptions for things like Anthrax). Some of them even last a long time on surfaces, making cleanup and rescue harder.

It's all about the integers modulo 12. Classical notation obscures that (while making it easier to figure out which of the integers modulo 12 you're using, minus being able to assign them to integers in an obvious way).

if you think companies optimize for the worst outcome still acceptable for their users to please shareholders, why don't you think governments don't opt for the same with their citizens to please special interests? voting with your wallet is orders of magnitude cheaper and easier than with your feet...

Composability and orthogonality are definitely still useful for agents. Just because they make handling a lack of those things 'easier' doesn't mean it isn't less expensive and less likely to make mistakes by following established architectural principles.

So I'm guessing you don't do anything except what matters to billions of people? Always 100% fully generalized contributions, never making your local world a better place? Your only local contributions being to tell off people who are grateful that their lives are materially improved by someone else's smaller actions... You must be beloved by your community.

what do you mean by 'full system understanding', here? And don't you think that claude and openai are using their own forge as well?
is there a (4) or (5) that would be preferable? :)

Who said anything about a corporate context? :)
Re:AI is removing the middle class of software engineering on Wednesday August 12, 2026 @03:25PM (#49277386)
Using context always means there's less for something else, whether you're a human or a machine. Abstractions that localize reasoning and help load the context into a human brain are ideal for machines and humans alike.

I think this is one of the beauties of AI -- filling in the gaps to help people make their microtalents shine.
