does this mean apple cannot come up with new features unless they support interoperability? Isn’t that taking away the incentive to innovate?

I am an Indian, and I share this feeling. We have some very good writers and lots of mediocre ones, not to comment about this particular post, which i have not read. Anyway, Indian schooling does not focus on writing as a skill, as much as they do on math and science.

+1 for Economist.
Don't let the titles of New York Review of Books and London Review of Books fool you. They do much longer view of contemporary news but thru book review.
Most news is probably not worth following every day. The rearview mirror of a weekly magazine gives better context than trying to follow most news the same day when details are still ongoing.

I was in my fourth year of a five year undergrad/grad program at BITS Pilani, India. It was late in the evening as someone in the rec room caught a whiff off it while channel surfing. The TV played BBC World broadcast non-stop for the next 36 hours, and the whole dorm was glued to it.
