Please don't make scaling the font size with page width a standard thing.
Re:CSS-Tricks in Limbo on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @01:14PM (#49715620)
Why purchase a website, just to run it into the ground? I never understood this.
Re:I Fired Google on Tuesday June 16, 2026 @04:07PM (#48561256)
This is so accurate.
Re:JSDoc is TypeScript on Monday December 15, 2025 @01:20PM (#46278256)
Came here to write this exact sentiment. Not everything needs a massive build pipeline.

Today I Learned: There's a built-in class called XSLTProcessor.

Does it?

Most Go, Java, and Python APIs are practically all Swagger based.

Re:Evolving a NoSQL Database Schema on Monday November 11, 2024 @02:26PM (#42109761)
Agreed, this approach will not scale very well in DynamoDB.
I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Server Sent Events. Just simple and easy to use/implement.
Framework 13 + GPU Dock would be my ideal setup.
Re:MDN Blog on Tuesday May 30, 2023 @01:43PM (#36127949)
Hopefully this can help fill the void left by CSS-Tricks.
Re:Google I/O 2023 on Wednesday May 10, 2023 @10:19AM (#35887750)
Same, that was one slick device.
Re:Google I/O 2023 on Wednesday May 10, 2023 @10:17AM (#35887728)
I completely agree. I'm a multiple year attendee, and couldn't be bothered with the announcements these days.

The American Store in London carries has them, for a considerable markup.

Agreed, that T420 keyboard is simply perfection.
This article just makes me miss the Tom's Hardware of old.
Re:Demystifying USB-C and Thunderbolt Docks (2017) on Wednesday December 08, 2021 @04:46AM (#29482813)
I've had this page bookmarked for years now, so major kudos to the author. 5 years on, it's still the best of explanation of all the different USB-C modes. I would love to see an updated version to include Thunderbolt 4 and USB4.
Re:FerretDB: A truly open-source MongoDB alternative on Wednesday December 08, 2021 @04:40AM (#29482774)
Perhaps I'm just being naive, bug I still fail to understand the animosity towards the SSPL license.
Re:Moths in slow motion [video] on Friday October 08, 2021 @05:24AM (#28797265)
They look like tiny dragons :)
I'm a strong supporter for all that USB-C can offer, but making it mandatory feels like a terrible idea.

What if we did this to firewire back in the 2000s? Would all phones still be shipping with a now outdated and too large plug in 202X?

Re:Moving Avoids California Tax? Not So Fast on Tuesday August 17, 2021 @04:33AM (#28207531)
As an American living in London, you'd be correct, it's simply ridicilous.
Re:For developers, Safari is crap and outdated on Tuesday July 27, 2021 @03:41AM (#27969701)
The indexDB fiasco is a good example of negative developer sentiment towards Safari.

Firefox shipped support in 2011, with Chrome following suite a year later.

It's mid 2021, and the Safari implementation is still critically broken.

EDIT: It looks like the bug has been patched in developer preview, so hey progress +1.

> the front page did not make it clear to me what the heck a Fizzgum is or why I should care

This is a very depressing trend of late.

Honestly kudos to the team, I was expecting much worse.

I can't imagine having some JS I wrote in the early 2000's on the front page of hacker news for the world to see.

Re:Why can't I write code inside my browser? on Friday January 15, 2021 @04:59AM (#25788970)
Open VSCode.

click Help.

select Toggle Developer Tools.

Realize you're writing code in a browser.

But are we surprised?
