Look at all the hours we get to spend on making voice apps that make phone calls when both sides having access to quickly update the ledger is already a thing: calendars

So instead of debating solutions to local needs with neighbors, we fetishize juicing Googles stock price and enabling them to build things that mathematicians already figured out the theory and limits to years ago

This is nonsense.

It’s one thing to theorize the Higgs and build an LHC

It’s another to build chat bots with our time so we can avoid menial scheduling.

Feed people misdirection about how the economy needs this cause we’re all too dumb to figure out our own lives (translation: elites lose power if we do that) and you keep getting these stupid generational pyramid schemes: we buy in now on some vague promise of a future payout we’ll not be around to collect on

Corporate is the church now. Love it or be ostricized.

Emotional capture is a thing

Basically a nation state forces people to adopt Stockholm syndrome under the guise of pragmatic acquiescence

It seems to me since we don’t yet know the truth around large swaths of reality (dark matter and such topics), a replication crisis is exactly what we should expect

You have to eliminate a lot of possibilities in a universe with this much detail

The real issue, again IMO, is more of an “expectation crisis”. We expected to repeat this and failed to. Because we’re still a ridiculously ignorant species lacking conscious awareness of many aspects of reality

Prestige and artificially pumping salaries. It’s all about brand building.

I don’t have an advanced degree, just a bachelors of math from 1995, and have been breadboarding (and more), and coding since the 80s

I can follow along with ML and have implemented toys with the ML algorithms in a couple days.

It’s bourgeois intellectualism. Like a law firm only hiring from Harvard

ML is automated schema design. And the current methodology has known limits of applicability

This is “Mongo DB”, “devops” like hype all over again.

Which these days means mostly ephemeral resources.

They save the tax cut and buy back stocks.

They are not starting farms to create more food or building new kinds of companies — not doing economic net new things. They’re growing their own ephemeral wealth pile

The old ways, best ideas, they have all died out in human society. No longer do we worship Roman Gods and build pyramids for Pharaohs

It’s hubris and and vanity to think we have the iron clad solution today in our time

We’re just carrying water for dead and selfish

Consenting adults who have been told this is exactly right their entire lives by government backed research into propaganda models gifted to university and media and advertising will I’m sure magically come to their senses
