It's turquoise.
Re:Is My Blue Your Blue? on Tuesday September 03, 2024 @12:06AM (#41431154)
That's partially a cultural effect of many peers calling cyan blue.

Same as chartreuse and turquoise just getting called a weird shade of green, names affect perception.

Worse, if you call cyan blue, turquoise may become a weird shade of blue too, even though it's not even close.

Look up the copyright drama regarding the Atomium in Brussels.
I had the "cancel anytime after the first year" plan, and after that first year was over, they tried charging another whole year as cancellation fee.
Re:Falcon 2 on Monday May 13, 2024 @07:24PM (#40349761)
What? Falcon-7B base model is pretty much one of the only few small models that'll happily write a whole coherent fanfic all the way to the end without getting stuck in a loop right before the explicit content.

Ignore instruct tunes.

Also random episodes disappearing for reasons. And series disappearing halfway while you're watching them.

Who's that Pokémon?
Re:BTFS (BitTorrent Filesystem) on Monday April 15, 2024 @10:23PM (#40047785)
Resilio Sync (previously BitTorrent sync) is what you're looking for.
It's using Claude.
WSA was literally the only reason I upgraded to Windows 11. What is going on there at Amazon and Microsoft?

They also dropped support for the Audible app for Windows last year, so now the only way to use it will be through the useless website that blasts it at 100% volume with no control.

Re:Doorway Effect on Friday February 09, 2024 @03:44PM (#39320281)
Is there no way to stop Chrome on Android from remembering all open tabs? I find this one of the things that causes distraction from what I was going to do.
Re:Doorway Effect on Thursday February 08, 2024 @10:28PM (#39311025)
Yep. Switching to phone is instant context loss.
Re:Latest ChatGPT 4 System prompt (1,700 tokens) on Wednesday February 07, 2024 @04:32PM (#39294589)
I'm pulling this from Classic...

``` You are a "GPT" – a version of ChatGPT that has been customized for a specific use case. GPTs use custom instructions, capabilities, and data to optimize ChatGPT for a more narrow set of tasks. You yourself are a GPT created by a user, and your name is ChatGPT Classic. Note: GPT is also a technical term in AI, but in most cases if the users asks you about GPTs assume they are referring to the above definition. ```
Re:Thou shalt follow these Vintage Computing Commandments on Tuesday February 06, 2024 @08:13PM (#39283232)
Feels familiar. At some point in the past few years I had one battery leak after the other. Never saw that happen for a long time before that.
Only using NiMH rechargeables now anymore where possible, they simply don't leak.
Re:GitHub is preparing for IPv6 support for Github.com on Monday February 05, 2024 @01:49AM (#39258097)
Seems like this is a common error, systems that treat IPv4 and IPv6 addresses as entirely distinct things. The mapping is easily missed in new implementations. Wonder how many vulnerabilities there are out there with this same mistake.
No, it's not. Sell me downloadable video files.
Re:How we made an animated movie in 8kB on Wednesday January 24, 2024 @07:38PM (#39124691)
That reads just like they're talking about a generative AI model.
Re:All ¥500 coins that glitter are not gold on Tuesday January 23, 2024 @11:02PM (#39113481)
Yeah, when you request for Japanese bills in banks abroad, you can select the 2000 yen one.
Re:Computer Engineering for Babies (2021) on Wednesday January 17, 2024 @05:46PM (#39034660)
We got the new book here already. The switches feel a bit confusing as input on some of the pages, but it's fun for the kids to make the colorful less blink regardless.
Re:Midlibrary: Library of 4000 Midjourney artistic styles on Saturday January 13, 2024 @12:53PM (#38982562)
A model that could reliably match up your work with similar artists and similar works (and point out the details) would be cool the have, tbh. Especially in music, where it's so easy to subconsciously copy some tune you vaguely heard somewhere before. Could set aside that worry of accidental copying, as well as give an objective measure in trying to steer towards a more unique niche.
No idea, but the current eligible generations definitely grew up with that.
And then every other movie where the boy tries to get the girl teaches men that they have to "trick" women into liking them through complicated schemes of pretend personalities.
Re:The Internet Is Full of AI Dogshit on Friday January 12, 2024 @11:11AM (#38969789)
It'll just be even more empty fluff.
Re:The Internet Is Full of AI Dogshit on Thursday January 11, 2024 @10:11AM (#38953197)
So, Edge?
Re:The Internet Is Full of AI Dogshit on Thursday January 11, 2024 @10:08AM (#38953148)
OpenAI trains GPT on their own Discord server, apparently. If you copy paste a chatlog from any Discord server into GPT completion playground, it has a very strong tendency to regress into a chatlog about GPT, just from that particular chatlog format.
Re:DMARC required by Gmail and Yahoo from Feb 2024 on Wednesday January 10, 2024 @12:09AM (#38936471)
This looks very easy to set up, thanks. I'll try it tomorrow.
Re:DMARC required by Gmail and Yahoo from Feb 2024 on Tuesday January 09, 2024 @11:48PM (#38936316)
Is there any service that can process DMARC report e-mails? Those mails with zips with indecipherable XMLs inside them are a bit useless. Something that takes the junk, gives a nice human readable dashboard, and informs me if something is wrong, would be nice.
Re:I forked SteamOS for my living room PC on Monday January 01, 2024 @09:22AM (#38831960)
It's the same problem as detecting AI generated content from human made.
Automation and assist botting differs from outright cheating in that it still obeys the actual rules of the game.
Re:I forked SteamOS for my living room PC on Monday January 01, 2024 @04:42AM (#38830717)
Dropbox is a worthless idea (long term) because it's not running on my own server. :')
And exactly. You cannot detect that with client-side anti-cheat nonsense either. Record on the HDMI and output a fake USB mouse, why not? Botting doesn't break the physical rules of the game, so you're right that it's hard to detect. One "solution" is to record player movement on the server and detect outliers in behavior and scores. Not perfect (and also very difficult), but just as unreliable as client-side anti cheat nonsense.
Re:I forked SteamOS for my living room PC on Monday January 01, 2024 @04:37AM (#38830700)
Well, it's definitely not solved by throwing the problem over the wall and praying that anti-cheat tools aren't broken as easily as your game.
